Best future backline - Melbourne or Essendon?

Call me biased, but I believe Melbournes backline will be the best in the comp in a couple of years time.

I have heard a lot of Bomber fans on BigFooty praise the potential of their defense, and for this thread I will be using the backlinr that GuzzLG has in his signature.

The lineups -

Melbourne

B - Martin Frawley Rivers

HB - Grimes Garland Bennell

...

Essendon

B - Daniher Pears Hooker

HB - Dempsey Hurley Myers




There are of course players that could make it in, all depending on your opinion. An example is Kyle Cheney who will be a star for the Demons.

I have to say that Melbourne's backline has immense potential.

The development of Frawley in particular has been pleasing this season, and he has shown he has a great deal of potential to succeed at the highest level. Garland showed his immense ability last season as well.

We all know of the talent Rivers possesses, it is more a question of his ability to play regularly, rather than a question of his ability to play football. Bennell has also shown a lot this year, and Martin is continuing to improve. Grimes will ba star, no doubt, and if Cheney were added to this equation, one really gets the sense that Melbourne has the making of a truly elite backline.

On Essendon's side, they also have the makings of a very good defensive unit. Pears is particularly impressive. Having said that, I don't see it as being better than Melbourne's, but it will still be very good.

Swap him for Houli.
I simply don't rate Melbourne.
I can't take them seriously.

It's difficult to take this post seriously, given the fact you base your rating of Melbourne on absolutely nothing, other than the fact you can't take them seriously, which is another one of your points based on nothing.
