Totally agree there with you Kleos, not becoz i follow the Saints but because to me he had pace, skills tackling endeavour and fed T locket many a time while he was at the Saints. First Indigenous to play 200 games.
He was my favourite player have met him a few times and is one hell of a bloke.

Go the Cuz

PS Kleos you're a mighty fine person, I enjoy all your posts very incitefull and interesting. Keep em coming :)

obviously i go to port games so i agree that Gavin Wanganeen is the best i've seen live. people may criticise his staging for frees but some of his feats on the field are breathtaking, you always feel confident when the balls in his hands. extraodinary skill.

Not the best, but McLeod of old has to be right up there. Everytime he gets the ball there's almost an anticipation that comes around the ground that something special is about to happen. His finals series in 97 and 98 were just magic.

Stephen Michael. The pity is that he never played VFL/ AFL.

He was even better than Adam Goods in the air, and as hard as Archer around the packs, with a tank that could run all day.

Bugger forgot about him!

I'd have him number one.

Mcleod, Matera, Wanganeen, Long of those i've seen.

Ahh no doubt right up there.

'The best' is not really worth picking out in my book, loads of just brilliant players deserve a mention as amoung the best here.

It's not a pity to me that S. Michael never crossed to Victoria, to me it shows how loyal he was to South Freo. I just wish that guys like the Krakours, Winmar and Long did the same with their 'real' clubs.

Jim Krakouer was a very complete and consistent player. Immensely skilled and often kicked a few bags of 5's and 6's which was noteworthy considering he was a true rover. The fact he was a maniac also made him fun to watch too!

Byron Pickett should be being talked about in these conversations and would be if he ever got himself fit and knuckled down, but while his form is always patchy over a footy season and the gap between his best and worst is massive. But his best is breathtakingly good.

But for me its McLeod. I'm a North supporter, but over the years i've often gone to see the Crows play when they're in Melbourne just to watch #23 run around. Just a superb footballer to watch when in full flight. So graceful, so quick and so skillful. His performance against my mob in the 98 GF was amazing. He is another who needs to work on his consistency though.

Sick of all these racist threads ! When are we gonna see one about the "best white guy to ever play the game" ? :)

Oh, and for the record, Winston for mine. That guy did things on a football field (albeit erratically) that physics should never have allowed.
