Just saw an interview with Scott Watters saying that Richmond have one of the, if not best midfields in the AFL. Dimma played it down, but seeing our last 5 games, our midfield has dominated in every one of those matches. And those teams don't have bad midfields either. I think everyone has accepted the fact that Richmond do have a midfield that is close to one of the best, but are we the best in the AFL?

Not even close.
We are 4 and 5 and 12th on the ladder.
Pendlebury, Thomas, Swan, Sidebottom, Beams all say hi.

No even close? lol

Our 5 is just as good as the Pies 5. To say Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Foley, Grigg isn't even close is an insult coming from a Tiger

Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton, Sydney, West Coast all above us.

Disagree- Pies are #1 from straight up midfielders but have ruck issues. Geelong down on form. Carlton also missing Murphy and Judd below his best. Sydey have Kennedy and Goodes and then grunt work. West Coast very good.

IMH

1/ Pies
2/ WCE
3/ Richmond
4/ Carlton
5/ Geelong

But if you take rucks into it Pies drop to 3

How's that 60,000 crowd looking for the Fremantle game?

Midfielders earn their stripes and reputations in finals , untill we play finals I think it's difficult to make judgement .
We could potentially have the best midfield for the next 7 years .

So if Dane Swan goes missing in the last qtr of the Granny last year he gets booted off the list?

I'm with you on that one RP:D

totally agree, win loss record says it all, when we actually have a spot in the 8 sealed then it's time to assess the quality of our mids against the competition's best

I thought a win loss record only told you how the whole team was performing. That includes forwards, backs and mids. Our forwards until last week have been pathetic. We've won our other games on the back of our mids.

So I cannot agree with your logic!

if we did have the best midfield we'd be 9 - 0. It's just a tactic so that we are overhyped and we start slacking off. But we do have a good midfield.
According to this nobody has the best midfield.. Hahaha

But yes I agree with your next two points. Watters is just trying to make our players get ahead of themselves and slacken off. And while not the best(yet) our midfield is very very good.

On current form, Cotchin, Deledio, Tuck, Foley and Martin are easily the best at the moment.

The Tiges are the only team to have two players in the AFLCA top ten in Cotch 7th and Lids 9th, not to forget they are being supplied superbly by a Mullet.

Did you miss Stanton (equal 2nd) and Watson (equal fourth)??

or having tunnel vision??

Dont get me wrong guys, think you guys are really getting ahead of yourself, maybe, as "roar passion' said, 'good midfielders step up in finals' lets wait and see how you go this year guys ;):thumbsu:

As a moderator you should know better than to come on to a Richmond forum and tell us we're getting ahead of ourselves. It's hardly the general consensus, most of us are used to getting smashed whenever we have a decent win the week before so its only a couple of the easily excitables that are going nuts. Its mostly the media causing the hype, just like they did in the preseason before Round 1.

Perhaps you should stay on the Essendon forum next time.
