Grealish is what 22-23 now?

If he was any good he would've moved earlier on

Imo he's better suited for a Southampton or something

That's simplistic. Who's to say he couldn't have moved earlier?
He just loves Villa so much that he never has, until he's been pushed to balance the books.

We need an English player given Sanchez and Foyth don't qualify for U21 status by UEFA and neither Davies nor Dier qualify as home grown.
We're short of HG players as a result and need to loosen the shackles that forced us to name a smaller CL squad than everyone else.

Why doesn't Davies count as home grown?

Just don't think his potential to become a star is that high, we'd potentially get just as much output from a decent academy kid

If we're buying young guns they're gotta be the likes of Sessegnon
From the Fulham that won't sell because they're now in the Premiership...
As soon as they got promoted signing him became remote.

Had Villa come up they'd have money, not need to sell Grealish and we'd be in the bidding war to get Sessegnon.

Rehashing old news but us selling Toby to Manchester United is us going back to a selling club and all the motions forward we have made in the last 3 seasons gone right out the door. For us to then bring in a guy like Harry McGuire for essentially the same price is pretty stupid business.

Why not pay one of the best centre halves in the world what he deserves and also add HM to the mix and add to one of the smallest competing squads in the PL?

Just on the back up striking options, surely we go to our Academy options rather than trying to again go to an empty well (transfer market). We have tried, and tried, and tried but none seem to fire a shot. Would be better served developing one of our own like we did with Harry Kane. Save that money and put it into other areas of our squad.

Thoughts?

That's garbage imo
Of course it is.
So is Sanchez and Foyth not being eligible to be one of our U21 players that don't need to be listed.

So for UEFA Davies, Dier, Sanchez and Foyth have to be in our foreign 17 players. Add Aurier, 3 keepers, Dembele, Waynama, Toby and Jan, Son, Eriksen, Lamela, Llorente, Lucas and Sissoko and we're over that number.

If those first 4 are allocated as they should be then we don't have a problem, but we do.
This is why we're signing Grealish and why we went after Barkley. We don't have enough English players given CCV and Onomah will be loaned/sold.

Rose and Kane are the only 2 club trained, which now will include Winks as well. Add Trippier and Alli and we're still short of the 8 required. KWP being listed would make it 6 players.

Our transfer business likely will feature foreigners going out and likely replaced with more foreigners.

Group Stage:

Tottenham Hotspur

Goalkeepers
1. Hugo Lloris, 13. Michel Vorm, 22. Paulo Gazzaniga

Defenders
2. Kieran Trippier, 3. Danny Rose, 4. Toby Alderweireld, 5. Jan Vertonghen, 6. Davinson Sanchez, 21. Juan Foyth, 24. Serge Aurier, 33. Ben Davies, 37. Kyle Walker-Peters

Midfielders
12. Victor Wanyama, 14. Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, 15. Eric Dier, 17. Moussa Sissoko, 19. Mousa Dembele, 20. Dele Alli, 23. Christian Eriksen, 29. Harry Winks

Forwards
7. Heung-Min Son, 10. Harry Kane, 18. Fernando Llorente

23 players.

Manchester United

Goalkeepers
1. David de Gea, 20. Sergio Romero, 40. Joel Pereira

Defenders
2. Victor Lindelof, 3. Eric Bailly, 4. Phil Jones, 5. Marcos Rojo, 12. Chris Smalling, 17. Daley Blind, 23. Luke Shaw, 25. Antonio Valencia, 36. Matteo Darmian, 38. Axel Tuanzebe

Midfielder
6. Paul Pogba, 8. Juan Mata, 14. Jesse Lingard, 16. Michael Carrick, 18. Ashley Young, 21. Ander Herrera, 22. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 27. Marouane Fellaini, 31. Nemanja Matic, 39. Scott McTominay

Forwards
9. Romelu Lukaku, 10. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 11. Anthony Martial, 19. Marcus Rashford, 29. James Wilson

29 players.

The effect not having enough English players has. We had to leave Lamela out of that restricted squad

How in the hell do United qualify for 29?

I'm counting at least 18 non HG there for United (dunno what nations Axel and Joel Pereira are), we only have 16 on that list imo (I count Davies as HG because he is in the FA)

Some of that United list will be U21 which don't have to be listed. Axel and Pereira will be HG as they'll have come from the academy.

Also didn't McTominay declare for Scotland?

Would put him in the same boat as Davies then
No because his youth club United are in England.
Davies' youth club Swansea play in England but are affiliated to Wales, hence the red tape.

Rubbish rule

So when we had Gylfi we'd be fine in that regard due to his Reading upbringing
Yes as he was in England before turning 18.

"On top of a maximum 25 players for the List A, clubs had to designate a minimum 8 players that were trained by clubs from the same national league, with 4 of them are from the club own youth system.[1] The rule in turn capped a maximum of 17 foreigners for the club in UEFA competitions. However, such as Lionel Messi who arrived Spain at age 14, some foreigners may counted as domestically trained players and vice versa if the players spent their youth career abroad."

So that United squad will have no less than 4 List B players. Which are U21.
We were short of the 25 as we couldn't meet our HG commitments, another reason we shouldn't have bowed and sold Walker.

Lucas should start for us, especially while Son is away trying to avoid conscription. Should've been given more opportunities last season anyway.

Toby can go if we get Martial in return.

Still need a midfielder, especially if Dembele goes. Should the latter happen, should be #1 big budget priority. Maybe Grealish is touted for that role. The dream is Modric returning for unfinished business.
