I know I'm in the minority here, but I bloody love BT, especially on the radio. He makes footy fun again. You can tell he doesn't take himself too seriously, he calls (pretty well), but his enthusiasm is awesome.

Fair point, Pumpy. I used to love listening to Rex for the flair. And I know plenty of others used to find him annoying.

The difference as I see it is Rex used to actually call the game too. BT either misses whole chunks of play, or just reels off player names. He doesn't describe what the players are doing with the ball or even where the ball is.

A bit of colour is welcome, but you still got to call the action...

See for mine, a TV call is vastly different to a radio call. A radio call should describe the play, but also needs to build some excitement because you cant actually see what is happening. TV on the other hand, I can see the play which is exciting in its own right, so I dont need dumb nicknames and crap, I just want someone to call the game, and someone to provide useful special comments.

What about Smedts maybe..........if it`s true, the player should be one of the outs this week I guess........
Doubt it's Smedts after just walking in the door and playing a couple of games. Also doubt we will necessarily see it this week, coming off a win where pretty much everyone contributed and possibly a couple of forced changes through injury. Can't see us changing the side unless we have to.
White would be my guess with Rowe, Marchy, Plow, Doc, Simmo, Weiters swinging, Macreadie and Williamson showing early signs and Sheehan and Byrne on the peripheral when fit, there just isn't much room for him any more. Although he does continue to get picked every week, so he has that going in his favour.

Are we giving BT too much credit here?

Perhaps. But the way in which he said it - he was bloody confident - makes me suggest there *may* be something to it. He would cop a pasting from, well, everyone if it turned out to be just something he pulled out of his hat.

Also, I think people should differentiate between Brian Taylor's over-the-top commentating and his behind-the-scene knowledge. I don't think being a bloviating windbag automatically dismisses anything he hears through whatever unofficial channels he has nurtured since retiring.

Looks like Fyfe to Saints for $1.5M/year "virtually accepted" from high ranking Saints board member!

Not interested in Martin, Reid or Rockliff also don't look that attractive? So we hold our cash for out-of-contract Suns/Giants etc? Hopper and .....

Starts to look a pretty formidable side with Fyfe-dawg and two picks in the top 12 this year.

I very much doubt they get Fyfe without giving up at least one of those picks.

Fremantle will match and force a trade.

Yep both of those picks will be heading fremantles way I suspect with maybe a 2nd rounder going back the other way.

Maybe. What if they don't have the cap space to match?

I don't think they necessarily have to, as they could argue that if they need to pay Fyfe $1.5m to retain him, then they'll just have to renegotiate some other contracts, or force out a few other players to accommodate. They don't necessarily need the money in the bank right now.

Not sure about that - what would they do if they can't renegotiate etc? If they delist players under contract for next year, the $$$ seems to remain on the cap

So :
Saints look like having their draft picks and $ tied up in Fyfe .
Hawks don't have any draft picks to trade .
Magpies don't need midfielders .
Cats and Demons would have tight salary caps ditto Dogs keeping their premiership list together going forward .
Tigers are going to be forced to pay overs to keep Martin and they need KPF .
Of the 10 Victorian clubs , that leaves only North and * to get in the way of us luring more elite GWS midfield talent to Princes Park .
If North land Kelly , that's them done and dusted in the marketplace but it would allow the Giants to offer Hopper/Kennedy better deals to stay in Sydney , if not , we can expect them and * to be sniffing around GWS also .
