your finger is off the pulse. Shiel is red hot to leave GWS end of year. red hot.

Interesting...if they have stuffed up their tpp to the point of losing a gun like Shiel that's poor from gws...though they may think he's going to leave next year anyway.

They have a host of stars coming ooc next year...moving one on like shiel this year should enable them to re-sign them.

Kelly, coniglio, Shiel, lobb, Haynes, hopper, himmelberg and Tomlinson.

That was over 40 years ago. Plenty of water has gone under the bridge.
Not for the few of us who were there.

They have been a rubble in the footy department since SOS and co left. Bringing in wayne campbell and the likes have made them go down hill

From the coach's survey...

In other highlights of the survey, the coaches said:
  • Stacking a forward line with smaller players was the most important tactical innovation of the past three years

Alex Jesaulenko did that 40 years ago - it was called the “Mosquito Fleet”.

:D

I don't hear much but have heard from a person (who was involved with the Northern Blues)

Mitch McGovern to Blues for P.19 (PP)
Hannebery to Blues (details to be decided) as he has the shits with Horse for playing him injured.
Mitchell done deal at Blues.

Again, just passing on what I've heard, whether it plays out like that will wait to be seen.
KohPhi, thanks for the rumours. Appreciate you posting it. And they all sound plausible (19 for McGovern could be a struggle)
I just love that your rumour includes Hannebury coming to the Blues because the Swans were playing him injured. Frying pan into fire.

Well he wants to be in melb and would know bolts from his time at hawthorn...plus Cam Bruce.

Is a newbie in terms of coaching, so joining a young team from the beginning and being part of the rise could appeal...we may also give him more responsibility.

It makes sense...pair that with the John Barker being let go rumour and there's the position. I personally think it's a good fit for Mitchell and would be a great acquisition for us.

Damian Barrett is also reporting on a serious salary cap squeeze at GWS and that Shiel's name keeps popping up. Out of contract at the end of next year, known Carlton connection and a team like us that has the assets to get it done. I'm fully expecting GWS to move him on.

I hope so, just don't want to have to give up pick 1 this year in such a strong draft.
GWS will be in the competition 8 years next year so they will have to cope with having their players becoming free agents for the first time.
They may need to move on some higher paid players to try to sign up these players now.

From what I heard, he wanted to go for an operation but the club didnt agree.
It does sound a bit over the top though.

Come on guys let's not claim the tigers changed the game, they won last year on the back of no injuries (repeating this year), hitting form at the right time, playing the equivalent of home finals even though they hadn't earnt the right to (should have played the cats in Geelong) and having the best team on the day choke.
The term charmed run applies. There success this year is due to the overwhelming confidence that being the reigning premier provides. Success breeds success.
And this all managed to happen during the decline of the 3 major powerhouse clubs of the past decade (geelong, hawthorn and sydney) with no serious successors. Imagine Richmond competing against those clubs 3-5 years ago, wouldn't even be in the convo.

Agreed...and as I've said before they have a number of stars ooc end of next year...they would want to stagger their departures or hope that in letting Shiel go now they can sign them all up.

And then we have Richmond able to fit in Tom Lynch...wtf

I'd counter with heat maps, but with 41 disposals for the year from Pickett, there's not a lot of heat to go around. I get he's been injured, but 8 disposals average isn't enough.

I may be nit picking here but I find this a deliberately misleading statement for you to illustrate your point. 41 disposals " for the year" looks a whole lot worse than 41 disposals in 5 games.

That's ignorant bullshit.

Richmond right now is just as good as any of those premiership sides. Their team chemistry is arguable better than them all
Ignorant bullshit or my opinion? I'm taking all 3 of those teams in their primes regardless. How quickly people forget...

Anyway not the thread for this, so moving on...

Well if in the case Shiel is coming I would say that makes a trade with Adelaide all the more likely. We wouldn’t give up Pick 1 but say a pick 7 from Adelaide would get it done and allow us to keep Pick 12 and 19 to the draft

An interesting last few pages of reading. A contracted Dylan Shiel, a contracted Mitch McGovern and a contracted Daniel Hannebery all coming to Carlton?????. Will be interesting to see how SOS pays for all this if true. Pick 1 has to be on the table I would suggest.

Jack's not a small forward, neither's Pickett, Lamb's a temporary measure and depth (although his last few weeks down back haven't been poor) and LeBois has been on a list for two years. Plenty of players have been injured for longer and made a go of it; it's actually something that supposedly good clubs do.

All in all, a little lazy as far as criticism goes.
Almost as bad a razy lacism.
