Should be something you have or don't have. For ground balls it is getting down low, soft hands and practice practice practice.
I wonder if the clean handlers are ones that can sum up and distribute quicker, so have quickness between the ears whereas those not as quick are preoccupied with what they are going to do with the ball before they have it.
Some players just have the ability for the ball to hit their hands and stick.
Surprisingly, Kane Lucas was one that stood out at training with clean hands.
The ball just went in and didn't bobble at all, through a variety of drills..............Davies though.
My hands were cleaner than his.

Griffen was as reluctant a captain as there could be.
Don't think the players ever considered him to be their captain.
Murphy has done very well from where he was, as he seems to have been accepted as captain by Bolton and the team.
The next captain will be better though....and that's no fault of Murphy's.

I remember when Judd came to the club he had massive praise for Diesel for helping him with his disposal by hand.
So not an entirely bad idea.
So 'never trade your captain' is not a mantra to run a football club by.
Murph is an okay captain, definitely looking forward to the next chapter though.
I think the problem is that Kerridge is operating more in open space so the fumbles and bad disposal are more obvious and have a bit mroe impact. You'd expect Ed to have a lower DE by virtue of operating in the clinches. I agree, he really needs to sort that out to become a genuine long term prospect.

Yes i never got the impression that Murph craved the captaincy, it was just that there was no one else ready when Judd retired.
Footscray have gone from strength to strength.
I'd be making Docherty captain next year regardless .
Murphy to the Giants for Marchbank , Pickett and a late 1st rounder .
Tuohy Kruezer Everitt and Graham to the Suns for the best package of picks we can negotiate.
A 2nd rounder to the Saints for Longer.
A 3rd rounder to the Dog's for Hrovat if you like ?
Hit the draft hard !!
The welcoming reception we pre-emptively planned for their pic 11 may have scared them off.
Our midfield is already lacking depth and you want to trade arguable our best one, who is also our captain and senior player.
Do you realise how bare our midfield would be? You only need to look at what happened this year.
We need Murphy and Gibbs to show the young new mids the ropes and take the pressure off them.

Giants cant afford Murph salary in there cap.. I dont think it would happen but hypothetically..

I really like Kerridge, and his attitude. He could conceivably be a best 22 player in a top 4 team with lots more development. He's the sort of hard working guy I'd really invest in, even if his ceiling is more limited than some others.
Murphy hardly played this year .
Cripps is the main man in the midfield now with Gibbs and Curnow as senior support .
We aren't winning the flag this year and must think big picture ...

The Giants as always will be active this trade period and will lose players/salary cap .
They are in premiership mode now and Murphy ticks this box for them ...

Its sad to say but Murphy would not be in there starting midfield, and Murph doesn't have the versatility to play anywhere else but the guts.

Giving up our captain and one of our best midfielders for a 26 year old forward pocket sounds like one of the last things we'd be prepared to do, and rightly so.
