Does anyone honestly think Hamish Hartlett is worth 750 K a season. (as Tony Shehean is reporting on twitter)

He's a B Grade player (at best) who is demanding A Grader money. Its madness.

I hope not. Plowman is undersized for a KPD. Would be a great third marking tall though, with Carlisle and Weitering as KPDs
From Knightmare's 2012 Mock Draft

"Recent speculation has been that Plowman could be developed into a midfielder so don’t be surprised if this is where he develops. Certainly at his size and with his composure and ball use looks an ideal future inside midfielder with clubs increasingly preferring those taller midfielders."

I'm keen on him, I hear he's like a better docherty

He's pretty well built. He'd need to shed a few kegs to play as a mid IMO.

Wrong way to go and would just set us further back. We need to add stars to our on ball division and find some goal kicking forwards (tall and small).

Do you think we need to pick up another ruckman via the draft, assuming (touch Wood) Warnock is let go ?

I realize we signed that American dude, but he seems like a speculative/long term project, I wonder if there is any good tall rick prospects in the draft we can nab late or rookie list ?

I've seen him play a fair bit. At his best maybe 500k, but not on this year's form.

We'll need more than Kreuzer, Wood and Korcheck so if Warnock is moved on we should look to add another but only a battering ram with a cheap trade/draft pick. Unless you're like Kreuzer, Nic Nat or Mumford ruckmen these days have almost the lowest value of any position.

Better Docherty? Doesn't exist...

Plowman will be a third tall/key back...so far he hasn't performed as good as you would hope from a pick 3.

Missing Carlisle for Plowman might be ok. Assume Weitering at #1, then we might end up with a young up and coming backline.

Carlisle seems a little bit like stop-gap

Carlisle a stop gap?
You do know he is only 23 right?

He is also the only one with exposed a grade afl form...both plowman and weitering are still potentials

Why does a failed first round selection still worth a first rounder years later?

Just because there on the GWS list, does not mean that they're a potential superstar. Surely we've learned this lesson?

Plowman might be a good pickup, I'm definitely interested, but I hope the club isn't stupid here. A good deal might be Plowman, Lamb, their second and third rounder in exchange for our second and third. They get a upgrade to help land the academy kids and they get Lambs ridiculous contract off their hands.

I wouldn't say Plowman is a failed selection. He was out for 8 months with an elbow injury at the start of this year, that's why he didn't work his way back into the side till they played us. Had 20 touches straight away. If he gets a good run at it he'll be a very good player IMO.

I'm on record saying I'm very keen on Carlisle, but if St Kilda are foolish enough to offer up pick 5 for him, then withdraw from all trade negotiations with Dodo and The Dons, PSD or bust for JC.

It boggles my mind though that a club as hellbent on the rebuilding course as the Saints and Al Richardson would be prepared to give up #5 for a player in the pick 15-20 range (max)

I think at this stage we paid overs for Jaksch (although I believe he will come good) partly because of The Saints interest in him last year, don't want our club to do a similar trade again (forced into paying overs because of another club)

"Carlton have met with Greater Western Sydney defender Lachie Plowman.

Plowman is seeking a trade back to Victoria after 3 years with the Giants.

Carlton is expected to have multiple top-20 picks to satisfy the Giants in a trade, after dealing out Lachie Henderson (Geelong) and Chris Yarran (Richmond)."

- Herald Sun
So we are getting a first round pick for Yarran?

So we're settling for 2nd rounders?

Quality find Zee.
Now I really want Plowman. All he needs is an opportunity.

That is a stupid way to put it not every young player develops as fast the fact that he also missed the most of pre season was a factor in why he only played late in the year i suggest you actually watch ben lennon in action

I'm not having a go at you DVB but it blows me away that people are still saying this. Let's put a couple of facts out there.
1. We didn't just get Jaksch for pick 7. We got Jaksch, Whiley, AND Boekhorst for Ahern (who hasn't played a game yet).
2. It's been one year. That is way too early to make a premature call on who won the trade.
3. Jaksch didn't set the world on fire. Neither did Whiley or Boekhorst. However, all of them showed glimpses that they could be fantastic long term players for us. I think Jaksch will ultimately become a more than handy third tall forward for us. Whiley will never be a star but he will do a lot of the grunt work as an inside midfielder. Boekhorst has shown enough to suggest that he could be quite a damaging player coming off a wing/half-forward.
4. Ahern hasn't played a senior game yet. So if you are comparing current output from that trade, then we come out on top.

As for Carlisle, it will not matter if the Saints offer pick 5 if he nominates us. If he is happy to play for either team and they offer up pick 5 then they can have him. It will not be a failure if we don't land him. We will save valuable salary cap space and hit the draft early.

wonder whether the Saints might prefer to offer that pick 5 for Hendo instead
