Setterfield and shiel carlton bound if they chose carlton (e.g GWS preference is to deal with us for a trade put forward). Not sure about Setterfield but Shiel won't look at offers until after the season. We might take salary dumps if required
Lloyd likely to re sign with Sydney. Again no decision until after the season. Club still working overtime to get him in

Chose Carlton, I doubt either will be at GWS next year. Salary cap pressure and GWS concede they are as good as gone and would prefer that cap relief happens now.

Not sure how many times I can say that Shiel isn't making any decisions until post finals. If people are reporting otherwise they are either lying or Shiel is lying to us. I think the second option is high unlikely knowing his character. Last I heard bombers are going hard, we are respecting his decision to focus on a finals campaign but he and his management know we are keen to get him across and get discussions going once finals are over.

I'm sure posters will have issues with us not pushing hard now, but IMO other clubs don't appreciate you getting into players ears when they are in the finals and it's paramount to respect that players wishes as well. Personally think bombers are hurting themselves by pushing so hard now, but they might feel they are behind other clubs and that's why they are pushing now.

Nothing necessarily new but thought I’d share anyway.

Met a Carlton fan at a footy function over the weekend who claimed he ran into Bruce Mathieson at a restaurant recently.

According to him Shiel is on in a big way.


McGovern 100% coming to us.

Club is also very big on Tom Williamson going forward. They see him as a future star. I heard it on here before but this guy also claimed that Williamson has some career threatening issue that was extremely worrisome at first. Genuine question over whether he would play again. Club now hopeful it can be managed going forward.

Club doing their due diligence on a number of boys for the no 1 pick. Walsh contrary to reports is not a certainty. They have told this to a few boys including the kings smith rankine walsh and Luko
Club feels need to be prepared in case a godfather offer comes for pick 1 and also they feel no need to let other clubs know what they are doing as it might change what offers clubs will put 2 us
