Social media users reveal that paragraphs in a letter purportedly written by a senior Yolngu Elder and published in a NewsCorp blog by columnist Andrew Bolt can be found near verbatim in an unrelated website and an academic paper.

Nobdy wrote the letter. Large chunks of it have be lifted verbatim from other unrelated sources published online for other purposes. So it is not only a lie to attribute this letter to the bloke in question, it is plagarism of other people's work.

I wonder if this is enough to refer to the AFP for fraud...

You have to cause damage as a first step yes, but denouncing another historian, who I suspect is just a bit controversial may not cause that much hurt, but any way assume it does. Then if he assumes the letter if it exists is real and reasonable then posting it is a mistake at best. Obviously don't have all the facts but it seems quite mild.

Guess it depends on how offended one gets ?

Obviously i'm no legal expert but i'd be pretty pissy if someone falsely quoted me for whatever reason.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that the earths climate change has been within norms. An increase in average temps since 1880 of approximately 1 degrees Celsius is nothing worth worrying about.
