Stop putting so many bloody players behind the ball you gutless twit of a man.

I dont pay my hard earnt to watch us try and save games with this pathetic defensive mindset. We are going to struggle to kick more than 8 goals per game and our midfield is much too slow to carry the ball through whilsts we wait for numbers to stream forward.

Play 1on1 footy that we once prided ourselves on and then we might start seeing some results.

its funny now (in the way a clown dying is funny) to think back to round one and how bomber praised the team for their one on one, hard at the ball style of play. Where's that game plan now?!?

As bad as the Hawthorn loss was, I think the problems really started the week after against Footscray. For the first 5 minutes of that game they attacked with purpose, moved the ball really quickly into the forward line and kicked 3 of the first 4 goals. Then for whatever reason they simply stopped moving the ball forward. Nathan Ablett and Tom Lonergan were held as the scapegoats but to be fair the lack of faith their teammates had in them was a major factor. They still have not rediscovered the urgency, commitment and aggression that was flowing beautifully in rounds 1 & 2.

I would rather they lost to Richmond by playing all out insanely attacking football than the tentative rubbish they have been offering recently. They have nothing to lose, the season is almost lost already. They must go on all out attack.

Get rid of Bomber and we'll see results.

And who out there is a better option the Bomber at the moment?

He is the best option. Stick with him. He will come good, however we will not play finals this year.

Unfortunately a coach is only as good as the players he puts on the paddock the players need to be accountable for this loss, normally I would agree that the coach has to be responsible for losses like this but atm our performance on the field is atrocious to say the least, no amount of coaching is going to change it, it is down to the players to turn it around

I agree in that the coach is only as good as the players on the ground.

But what if the coach is telling them to play a certain way and do certain things on the ground and the players dont do that.

If the coach cant get the players to do what he is telling them then the coach has a problem.

If Bomber is telling the players to do things like man up, chase, tackle and move the ball quickly and the players dont do it there is a problem with Mark Thompson coaching because the players aren't responding to him, they dont want to play for him.

When that happens, maybe it is time to look at getting someone in who the players will respond to.

Is this happening, maybe it is. I guess we will have to wait till this weekend for more answers.

Sacking the coach is not what our club needs right now - stability and continuity is the key to a successful club.

Players lose form - and so can coaches. I think Bomber needs to think back to recent times when we've played our best footy / and won games. It sounds simple but lets be brutally honest - footy is a simple game. I can't recall winning too many games playing this style of footy. When we back ourselves and play one on one contested footy we are as good as anyone else.

Going into the game Saturday night we were number one or two in the comp for contested footy - why are'nt we playing that way and taking some risks ? Don't mind losing if we attack but when you play this crap and lose it compounds the pressure on the players and the coach.

Yes I agree - grow some balls > but more importantly show faith in our blokes to attack the footy at the contest / but for gods sake at least give us a contest.

I have been following Geelong for quite a while now, I used to watch Polly at Kardinia Park. My father has been watching it even longer. We agree on this.

There are three things you need to win a flag.
1) A great team. This is a bit obvious but if you don't have a great team you go nowhere. I don't mean a realy good team like Collingwood in 2003 I mean a great team.

2) A great Coach. Without a really great Coach the team will only go so far just look at St Kilda.

3) A great Administration. Without stability in the club and the ability to make the right decisions you go nowhere.

You want examples? Ok Collingwood when coached by one Tommy Hafey. What a great coach, got a very good team up to grand finals where they were found out. Geelong in the 90's under Blight, very good team who couldn't quite make it.

OK Winners. Carlton in 1970 best team best coach best administration, much as I hate them.
Brisbane in the 2000's same same, and I do hate the coach there, long memory.

There are lots more I could mention but my point is, you can't take one on it's own, all three have to work together. It is easy to blame the coach, but the players have to take responsibility as to the admin and vice versa.

p.s. my father was born in 1925 ring a bell??

Sack The Coach, sack the players, bring in Nathan and Varcoe Give Some no name 1st year player the leadership.

Most of you idiots on this board have no fing idea what is wrong. Except you wasted 50 or 100 on the cats for the flag after round 2.

FAct We are faltering because our team is off the boil. Nothing will come of that by chopping everyone this week.

If it was posted 9 weeks ago that the team that we put on the park was there for any game no one would have changed more than 2 players and eveyone was saying Bomber is the Coach of the year.

I would prefer this Coach than the one we had before ...anyone remember what that Idiot did to Us ...if not just look at his influence to Essendon this year.

We didnt get our team on the park pre season for a multitude of reasons, and I for one really blame that idiot they sacked. He is suiing us I say sue him and get a class action going I will join in. Pain and suffering from 400k supporters. We do have a good list and can play well, we will not win a flag with the forwards we have but yet again we will have to live with that this year.

Stop bitching and start slagging off Richmond like we should be doing!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed (to an extent), but take this into consideration.

So here we are, on a huge stage. It's Round 8, Saturday Night footy, at The 'G. We are playing the biggest club in the land, at the grandest stadium, in front of 70,000.

We have been struggling, but scrapped out a win the week before. It looks like it could be the spark to get our season back on track. After the St. Kilda match, our coach states something to the effect of 'we won't play like that again'. Again, we are playing on The 'G, where flooding has been proven to be ineffective.

It is a huge match for the club - a win, and we are away. It can set up the whole season. This is vital, as only 6 weeks before we were premiership favourites, but more importantly, we are genuinely considered a top-4 side, and anything less in 2006 will be considered an underachievement.

For the first time in 3 or 4 years, "we have our best 34 players available". Thus it should be the strongest side we've put on the park in almost 10 yeras.

From the first minute, we are flooding. The 70-year-old Geelong bloke standing next to me behind the seats in M14 shakes his head. We play terrible defensive footy and are around 5 goals down. We are playing exactly the way we did before, and it's not working. Right, so we've completely gone against what we said we'd do, and we are getting pummelled as a result.

Change of plan? No! Why should we? Let's stick with it!

10 goals down at the half. My mate leaves at half-time. The old bloke and I have a chat for 25 minutes over half-time. Surely it's not that hard? What do we have to lose? Why not try to attack? This clearly isn't how it's supposed to be! We have loose men in defence, the Collingwood forward line are still towelling us up, and thus we have nothing to kick to up forward.

We stick to the same game plan the whole day. We go down without a yelp. It is the worst loss in the history of the two clubs.

Why?
