On Friday night when geelong ran out onto the ground the boos that reverberated around the mcg was something most had never heard before. It was like the cats were an interstate side as the boos drowned out any cheering from their fans. The boos continued throughout the night when they kicked the ball into play and on other occasions throughout the night. While the roar of the tiger army was something to behold I reckon the booing was something I've never heard before on that scale.
Where do people sit on this? I've heard lots of complaints from cats fans and even heard a tiger supporter on 3AW tonight say she didn't like it.
I for one liked it, it made for a very intimidating experience for the cats players and who knows may have effected some of them especially the younger ones.
I imagine it will happen again in the prelim to the Giants or eagles so what do people think? To boo or not to boo?

Its fine, but it makes your supporters look classless. And considering the reports of abuse and aggression in the crowd, it stacks up to make your supporters look like poor sports and will lead to people giving your fans a lot of shit if you lose in the Prelim or GF. So you basically have to hope you win or you will cop it.

We've been coping it for the last 30 years so I don't think coping shit is going to worry us.
I don't condone abusing other supporters or aggression but surely booing the opposition to try and put them off is all fair in love and war?

Classless act from a classless supporter base devoid of any success whatsoever for decades.

Respect that you are the away supporters.

Was discussed earlier in the year.

Essendon fans slammed for booing Paddy Ryder

I was kinda surprised at how loud it was was when Geelong ran out, but the impact on Geelong supporters of hearing their team booed has elicited so much comment that it's sure to be repeated at the prelim, only louder.

Genuine question, are you suggesting it was OK for your supporters to boo our team in Round 21 but not for our supporters to boo your team on Friday?

Every team has to deal with your flog supporter base at KP
Actually, the protected species clubs like Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn and Richmond don't.

Both games were our home games.

there was a time when the old men and women would travel to the game and enjoy a beer and
a chat...

now it is all about shooting a mouthful of invective and not giving a shootful.

just tone it down everyone.. it just isn't pretty, nor is it calming to the soul and neither does it do much
for your team..

don't know what to do about it but just get the po.. lice to take the offenders out and smack the ass out of them
