Thats almost as good as your Lachlie Hansen is better than Jack Riewoldt post.

1. Collingwood - Have a strong young core bragging: Sidebottom, Beams, Thomas and Pendlebury. This young group by this point in time will be reaching their prime years which to think about is quite scarey because they have the potential to become an almost Geelong like force. Except GC+WS will far surpass all others by 2014/2015 and dominate for the next 10 years.
2. North Melbourne - Have a strong young midfield comming through and I think they will be a force in a few years time. Brad Scott will prove to be an excellent coach and enforce a tough mindset into his players. With young midfielders including: L.Anthony, Ziebell, Wells, Swallow, Cunnington, Wright, Bastinac and with Majak Daw who could become anything I think they will become a very, very good side.
3. Gold Coast - With the sheer volume of young talent they will receive I think they will become a force much, much faster than many think. Don't write this one off, I see it happening.
4. Hawthorn - Hard to see them not being a strong team with Franklin, Roughead and Rioli who will continue to get better. By then perhaps they might have built up a ruck division and backline to be able to once again contend.
----
15. Essendon - More a speculative pick than anything but I just don't see where they are going to grow their list from. Their players are in the right age group to become a strong team in the future but I don't really rate their young talent as highly as that of other sides.
16. Brisbane - Travis Johnstone, Brown, Fevola, S.Black and Power will all likely have retired by this stage but personally I think some of their young players such as Harwood and Rich will develop enough to stop them from plunging below Sydney + Port Adelaide.
17. Sydney - Shaw, Bradshaw, J.Bolton, Kirk and maybe Goodes or O'Keefe will likely all have retired leaving the Swans with a skimpy little midfield after their veterains who have served them for so long have left them. Just don't look to have the young quality to be able to cover what will possibly be a reasonably large list turnover over the next few years.
18. Port Adelaide - With Cassisi, Carr, Motlop, Rodan, Treadrea, C.Cornes, Brogan all possible retirements it is hard to see them building a strong list without the early draft picks. I expect them to be down the bottom for a while.

Top 4 in no order. These sides are going to have the best list of players from about 24 to 30 in this period which I think will make for premiership contention. The Pies have a great spread of ages at this point and in 4 years the only oldies/retirements will be Davis (horribly out of form and we're still top 4 comfortably), Didak (will be 31 and probably a forward again), Maxwell (still only 31 which isn't overly old for a defender that isn't key position), Paul Medhurst (can't crack best 22 atm anyway), Jolly (at 32 will be the hardest to replace), Lockyer (borderline best 22 at the moment, Dick's already a better player), Fraser (not in our best 22 now), Ben Johnson (borderline best 22), Presti (Brown has shown a lot as his understudy). We are awesomely placed to be good for years to come as are the other 3 in the top 4 with Freo and Melbourne having the best weight of quality youth at the moment in my opinion. The Hawks are young but already brittle which might see them anywhere on the ladder by this point. The least likely of this 4 to be top 4 in 4 years but I still think they will be. I think the Blues and the Tiges are the dark horses for top 4 at this point and the ages of Sandilands, Pavlich and Tarrant are the biggest question marks for the Dockers.

Wouldn't it be strange and unusual if a lot of Collingwood supporters came on here overrating their own team.

Saints will have a few of retirements in the next three years, probably the most significant being Michael Gardiner and Lenny Hayes.
While depth in some area's are lacking there are a number of development players, of which it is likely some will show real talent.
I guess it's debatable whether StKilda's game plan will continue to provide an advantage, but its also likely that weaknesses in the list will be addressed in a couple of years. I can't see them bottoming out so quickly.

Bulldogs possible team in 3 years, not counting rookies;

Retires: Johnson, Akermanis, Hall, Hudson, Eagleton, Hahn
Outs: Harbrow GC, Gilbee, Hargrave, Murphy, Giansiracusa all about 31-32, but 1-2 still prob playing, Minson if Cordy/Rough overtake.

Just example side;

B Morris (30) Lake (31) Wood (23)
HB Picken (26) Williams (26) Howard (22)
C Reid (23) Boyd (30) Ward (23)
HF Stack (25) Grant (24) Higgins (25)
F Hill (24) Jones (22) Everitt (24)
R Roughead (22) Cooney (27) Griffen (26)

I Cordy (22) Cross (30) Wallis (20) Libratore (20)

Doesn't look like a bottom 4 side to me, any midfield with Cooney, Griffen, Boyd, Ward, Higgins, Reid, Cross, Picken, Libba and Wallis isn't going to be bottom 4.

Same with saints, they won't bottom out in 3 years as core group particularly in midfield will all still be around, may not be at top but won't be down bottom.

I'm interested to know why some of you think North Melbourne will be bottom 4 in 3 years time? :confused:

I agree, I think a lot of people seem to either disregard or grossly underrate the Kangaroos. They're trudging along quite nicely for their current stage of development, and have plenty of highly-rated youngsters in the middle and forward areas, with an improving backline.

They may need to pick up a couple of real stars to climb to the top 4, but putting them towards the bottom is just strange.

I think most of you are being a little generous towards the Demons,yeah in 3 years time we should be in the 8 but having us a definite top 4 side is a little premature maybe in 5 years time!
