Reasons FOR or AGAINST

Brisbane: Have Star Power + Legendary Coach + Triple Premiership Players
-However aren't they a top-8 team this year?

Carlton: Judd + Fev; + Strong Yough
-However; most likely their young bunch will take another year to be top 4 contenders; will most likely finish 6-8 in 2009

Essendon + Richmond:
Both are in similar positions. They have the next young generation already emerging; both with exciting youngsters. Also; their senior players like Richo, N.Brown, K. Johnson; Lucas, Lloyd, Fletcher...are nearing they end; and could possibly be the inspiration for a final tilt at ultimate glory

WCE + P.A.
Both were powerhouses in 07; but in 08 they have seriously underperformed. Both still have their fair share of stars; and both have premiership coaches.

Freo + Melb. Just don't have the list yet. Need 2-3 years to rebuild.

Bit early isn't it? I'm gonna reserve my vote until after the draft/trading period at the very least.

Since the final 8 system...

2007-08 Bulldogs 13->?

2006-07 North 14->4
2006-07 Geelong 10->1
2006-07 Port 12->2

2005-06 Freo 10->3

2004-05 Adel 12->1

2003-04 Geelong 12->4

2002-03 Syd 11->4

2001-02 Coll 9->4

2000-01 Port 14->3
2000-01 Rich 9->4

1999-00 Melb 14->3

1998-99 Bris 16->3

1997-98 Melb 16->4

1996-97 Saints 10->1
1996-97 Crows 12->4
1996-97 Bulldogs 15->3

1995-96 Swans 12->1

1994-95 Rich 9->3
1994-95 Ess 10->4

Suggests to me, that at any given time, there’s not much separating most teams in terms of ability. Year to year finishing position is dictated heavily by injuries and the draw.
