Bower and Smith?

Can anyone tell me how Bower and Smith went today? Thanks.

Smith had very limited game time, and really didnt do much at all. I thought Bower, although his stats might not be huge, did enough to suggest he could be a player of the future. If you watch him closely you can see that all he wants to do is provide run out of the backline, which we despearately need.... will play next week.

Great to hear that about Bower. Looks like we might have found a very good player of the future.

this is off topic but i thought setanta played really well 2day. he took a few great marks and his kicking is getting better. his only problem is he seems to play on straight away everytime he takes a mark
As for Smith this may sound critical but i really think we should of elevated jackson instead.

Thanks. Great to hear about Bower and Setanta, Smith cant do alot from the bench, but thats what Pagan does with every young player who comes in.I still think Smith has a future, what about Blackwell?

Agree about Setanta, was very impressing. Almost always played on straight away after a mark, even when under pressure. However, he continues to develop and is showing some very good signs.

Bower was alright, did some courageous things. That 50m penalty against him was very hard, though the umpires were horrid in general. Didn't see the goal, but good to see him kick one. Smith was very quiet, didn't notice him at all. How much gametime did he get?

Very very minimal, also blackwell, everytime i looked at the bench, he was on it.

I was mighty impressed by Bower today, he showed some poise, some run and that he is couragous which we like to see. That mark he took - which was taken off him - was absolutely superb.

The goal he kicked was fantastic, he didn't panic and kicked right through it. Very nice.

Smith, meh, he needs more game time before I make a fulljudgement but from what I've seen... he won't make it. Should have elevated Jackon IMO.

Smith had roughly 16 minutes ground time, if you want to judge him on that feel free. Pagans use of both blacky and smith was pathetic,and stokey jacksons last couple of games have been average at best.If pagan destroys the young guys confidence by giving limited game time it may well cost the bullants a premiership,mitchell for pagan before he ruins this club.

Agree totally

If you are going to promote someone, give them some decent game time. He probably would have been better off at the Ants than that crap. We are in junk time season-wise- give him at least a half and he will have all off-season to reflect on it.

Also disappointed.

What's wrong? Bower kicked a goal. Looked pretty good at times, his mark was good, the 50 metre penalty very unlucky. Definitely did enough to hold his spot, and looks as though he can become a pretty good player.

Smith is an interesting one. Looks OK, but its a disgrace he was only on for 16 minutes. Give him some game time FFS, how else is he meant to perform?

Delighted with Setanta and Bower today. Setanta continues to improve. I like his attitude, and the way he takes on the opposition. Took a few sensational marks today. Still needs to learn how to time his spoils and running down of opponents on the lead. He has fantastic agility and speed, and his height in defence today was invaluable. Hilarious watching him get annoyed with himself for making mistakes. He’s clearly desperate to improve and make it at this level, and I have no doubt he will. Bower was also great. His most notable attribute is the intensity in which he attacks the ball, quick decision making and excellent skills. There were a couple of instances today, where he crashed into a pack, extracted the hard ball, and fired out a quick accurate handball under pressure. An impressive effort from a first gamer. Also has good height (6’4”), speed and leap. Very versatile as he has the height a leap to be able to play of a taller players, and speed and agility to go with a smaller player. While he has been recruited as a KP defender, he looks to have forward line ability as well. Not so impressed with Smith unfortunately. A strong player, but not that fast, and doesn’t find the ball that much. I would have preferred Ryan Jackson to have been elevated, but I guess Smith has been on the rookie list a little longer, and Denis wanted to give him an opportunity before the end of the season.

Bower did well for 1st game, he will play again this week. Setanta took some great marks & is learning to dish off handballs, would still like to see him have a game on the wing.

If we had Murphy,Stevens & Gibbs in that team we would have gone close to winning.

Difficult decision to make with 1st draft pick, we are desperate for key position back, but still think Gibbs will get the nod.

Is there any danger in Adelaide finishing bottom in 2 or 3 years time, & Gibbs going home via PSD.

I think the Crows are stuffed, will lose McLeod,Hart,Riccuito,Edwards within 3 years.

Agree. He'd be awesome on the wing. I think Denis is keen to keep him in one position ATM, while he's learning. He clearly enjoys going further up the ground when he follows the opposition forwards.

jackson will be a better prospect than smith. i saw the game on saturday and he was ok. thge goal he kicked in the 3rd showed his class.

Didn't see the last 1/4 but he was flocked in the first half especially the first 1/4
