Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Surely Top 8 beckons if we picked up Bradshaw, McGlynn, Kennedy, Mumford and Seaby in one off Season while having 2 first round picks!

I'm all for Bradshaw! He is free and we have spare room in the salary cap!

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I'm with Corp, great player, but 1-2 years max. 3rd year will be salary down the toilet IMO. Maybe they are willing to take a 3 year risk, because 2010 - 2011 will be so bloody awesome that he will be legendary status by 2013 and no-one will care that he retires a year early :D.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

It may be a two year contract, with a third year option. It is very likely that his first two years will carry the bulk of his salary.

Cas, fair enough. I had thought he would have been part of the trade had they met terms. It seems strange to me that he was not traded as part of the deal, yet Carlton are still interested in him. You'd have thought Rischitelli aside, that Bradshaw still could have been part of the trade.

In any case, Bradshaw has to deal with us in some shape for form. Either to:
1) Convince us to NOT select him. 2) Get himself a better salary bargaining position (unlikely to deter the cashed up Swans) or 3) Come to Sydney.

That is of course provided he gets past the four clubs in front of us, with the biggest threat probably being North.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

North have no money and would be unattractive for any expereinced player, get him and off load Playbad

Gotta agree here, better prospect than Hank.

2yr deal 3rd optional on performance etc.

We got the money might as well use it.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I'm not sure why some people are so worried about his injuries. He's barely missed any football over the last 5-6 seasons and he only missed 2007 because of an ACL, nothing to do with his fitness.

If he's plonked in the forward 50 and doesn't have to do much more than lead, mark and kick goals, then bring it on!

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I've always disliked him, but I'm actually all for this. The length of the contract is the issue, but I don't see much downside here.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I don't understand this draft process very well, I just can't see how he could come to the Swans when we get pick 5 or whatever and the player can't nominate a specific club......I know I must be missing some vital piece of the puzzle. Please don't be rude, I honestly don't understand how this system works:confused:

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

PSD and draft are two different things.. im not 100 % sure tho.. i think their on during different times

It works on the assumption - which could prove to be right or wrong - that none of the 4 clubs with picks ahead of Sydney in the PSD has any interest in shelling out $1m+ over three years for a 31 year old.

In which only serves to build up white and johnston(sp?) under him. Dont know if it's money well spent

As Vonn said the PSD draft is a little different to the national draft. Liz will come on and correct me tomorrow I'm sure and if she does listen to her. But for now if Bradhaw nominates for the pre season draft he can put his contract terms into the draft, if you take him you take him on those terms. He will nut out terms with the club and put those into the conditions. The theory is the other clubs will have there preferred players or spending worries before he gets to us.

Problem the Kangaroos have some cap space I believe so yes we are going to have our work cut out to ensure we get him.

Ball will go the Demons, McDonald will probably end up a tiger, Freo may pass on the PSD or take Nicoski as he is Perth based, North Melbourne?

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

I doubt North will draft Bradshaw, I mean they are going through a heavier rebuilding phraise than we are at the moment and still plan on playing Hale at full forward again next year.

And if your a senior player you can nominate your terms in the national draft as well as the pre-season draft now (That rule was changed a few years ago I believe)

If Bradshaw is looking at coming to Sydney expect him to nominate Preseason draft, If he is prefering Carlton look at him to nominate for the national draft.

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

A big thankyou to the above posters VERY much, I was quite puzzled as to how we'd possibly be in the running for Bradshaw; I had no idea a player in the PSD could nominate terms etc...you've all made it much clearer and I'm grateful:)

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

Let's hope he likes what he sees when Roos shows him around the club. Apparently he's getting a tour when Roos gets back from holiday, does anyone know when that is?

Re: Bradshaw rejects Lions contract

This on the Carlton Board

Carlton know they have Bradshaw in their back pocket.
If we really want him, he'll come our way I have no doubt.

Irrespective of what some of their supporters may be saying, Sydney will rue not going for Fevola.
Big mistake in my eyes.

Yep, with you 100% on this one. Apparently Sydney were Carlton's prefered trading option but were not willing to come to the party with the "you know who" deal, so we went to Brissy. And if we end up with Bradshaw, well "suffer in ya jocks Swans":D

Do those fools know the difference between giving up a first or second rounder + good young player for Fevola, and getting Bradshaw for nothing?
