This issue is being a tad overhyped. What's so brilliant about what Cook did at Geelong? How many goals did he kick in 2007?

A great deal of this can be attributed to Frank Costa. Frank organizes and Brian executes. That is not to say that he would not be a good addition. Huge experience, very good political contacts and the AFL love him.Out of interest had a look at Cooks Bio. Reads pretty impressive. Can fully understand why you headhunt the guy.
The Clubs turnover has increased from $16M to $50M with an average $1m profit per year during this 13 year period.
Under his management, the Geelong Football Club cleared its 1999 interest bearing debt of $7 million and has posted twelve consecutive profits.
A raft of new initiatives have been introduced including $104 million of redevelopments at Simonds Stadium (3 stages).
Geelong Football Club, during Brian’s time as CEO, has played in four Grand Finals and won three premierships in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Between 2007 and 2012 the club has won 125 games out of 145 which is a VFL/AFL record.

That would make HTB's question even more relevant.Wouldn't be at all surprised if Cook is announced for Syd Barker.
GEELONG CEO Brian Cook could decide by as early as Tuesday whether he will depart the Cats after 13 years to join North Melbourne.
Cook, who is contracted at Geelong next season, is likely to make a decision by the time he returns from leave on Wednesday.
Cook returned from a holiday in Nepal last weekend and was due to meet Geelong president Colin Carter on Monday afternoon to discuss his future.
AFL.com.au understands Cook remains undecided on whether to accept North's superior financial offer, but is tempted by the challenge of strengthening the Kangaroos' financial position and growing their supporter base in Melbourne and Hobart.
Yep, if he has indeed been considering our offer all this time, then it would seem he's mentally exited. Not sure how he could stay on at Geelong after all this anyway.
or viewed the facilitiesSo he has actually met with our board and has he been formally interviewed ?

He'd be interviewing them more than they'd be interviewing him.

CEO recruitment is a long-winded process usually. Board normally wants to hear the strategy the CEO has and if it is compatible with the direction the board wants to head. I think the application process usually involves the applicants selling their plan/strategy to the club. It is not really a position you just give someone the keys to the car without knowing where they are going with it. Board and CEO have to be on the same page or it wont work.
This all appears to be being driven by the AFL. I think it's a pretty easy decision for the board to make. I also expect the AFL will guarantee a good draw? and generous spec distribution as well as Tas and Ballarat support.Agreed. So the original question applies, has he met the board ? Assuming, the media report is correct and an offer has been made, then one MUST ASSUME that an ineteraction between himself and the board occurred.

Don't get your hopes up guys. This is more a media beat up then anything else. Cook is pretty strongly settled at Geelong.
This. Won't happen imo.
Correct, but so is the senior coach appointment, and we were going to appoint Buckley pretty much the same way.CEO recruitment is a long-winded process usually.
