Things can turn around quickly with the right staff/support. It's got nothing to do with Leppa being a bad coach or a bad bloke, he is just not the right person for the current job. I think the AFL needs to intervene- the Brions have been struggling for a while.

Admin? Do tell.

Matthews. I hear he isn't the best.
I'm not going to get into an argument with you RL about the Lions because I know you'll destroy me. But I understand that Matthews hasn't been the best up there.
Wasn't there the bit about moving the training base to a location out of Brisbane that ended up a bit of a mess as well. I'm on the 'smoke there is fire' bandwagon with the admin

Who the **** has ever said that? You taking the piss?
Indeed. Lots of we are the worst and all our star kids will leave. Will be a revolving door of players. Etc etc.

A few yers of academy kids with the right surrounds and they will be up and about.

How? And from who?

Oh yes? And how was it a bit of a mess?

I'm on the 'smoke there is fire' bandwagon with the admin

That was two and a half years ago and under the previous administration.

In other words you don't have a clue what's been happening with Brisbane's admin.

Wut?

Pretty much every problem with the Lions is attributable to the coaching. Structure terrible, players not trying, skills atrocious.

The head coach is ultimately accountable for all of it.

I would say that only the skills issue could be held to the throat of the coach.
Structure and players not trying are players not following instruction and not caring. You don't get a job as a head coach without being able to coach.

On this board.

As I said, I'm not going to get in an argument with you as you'll destroy me. As you have done. My belief that the admin have made some mistakes has been from some things that I've read on here. Now, whether that is founded or not is depending on where you stand. But as an outsider I read some things that indicate that the admin have made some mistakes and looking from the outside, when the team is struggling a lot, things start to add up; perhaps there is a problem with the admin.

Back to the original post that Brisbane need help. Do you agree?
Two years ago I made the OP about Brisbane needing help. They still need that help I believe. Perhaps admin help as well

By that logic no coach should ever be sacked.

Players not trying and following instruction *is* the fault of the coach. It's his job to motivate them enough so that they are trying.

Brisbane will get help a week from now when the Bombers beat them, in turn gifting them the top draft pick :D

Perhaps, but it's not always that simple. What if there is a bad culture at a club? No fault of the coach but perhaps some players march to the beat of their own drum.
Players have free will. They can choose to be on-board with a coaches direction or not. If they don't like the coach or want to do their own thing, is that the coaches fault? How far should a coach have to go to get them on-board? Can the coach drop their talented players who don't follow direction for players that aren't as talented and can't follow their direction?

In the end, is there a coach that could do a better job than Leppa over the next 5-6 years? Because that's how long it's going to take for them

Brisbane's problems stem from crap coaching and structure, a poor culture with interstate players wanting to leave all the time because they never win, piss admin, trying to pretend Fitzroy doesn't exist (admin problem) and the AFL's priorities up North being centered around GC/GWS.

Brisbane need a lot of work simply put.

Agree.

Talent issues is the least of their problems you will be surprised how much of a difference it makes to a club when they get their admin right and football coaching and development fixed.

But from who? What are you basing this "belief" on?

But as an outsider I read some things that indicate that the admin have made some mistakes

What things?

Don't confuse this administration with the last administration.

They chiefly need time. Maintaining the academies. Reducing debt. Better facilities. All would help.
