who do you reckon is the biggest brownlow fadeout.

eg. 1999 shane crawford

next year did nothing

1999 and 2000 crawford and woewodin both had the 'brownlow hangover' - but at least crawford was at the forefront of a charge in 2001 - woewodin hasn't done much since other than change clubs and become a workhorse like shane o'bree...i'd say he's collingwoods no. 3 midfielder behind buckley and burns.

Are players from the Melee who are having to only pay fines (ie: not serving week(s) for their involvment) still eligible for the Brownlow?

That medal was koutas!!!!!!!!!!!!

that was scott wests medal. the two were tied before the votes were read for melbourne's final game, and woewodin polled to win the medal outright.

Crawf will be back to his best as soon as his back problem is fixed.

Some West Coast players even began congratulating West on his brownlow before the votes for the game were even read out. They told him that Woewodin wouldn't get close to polling any votes for the match. Nice work.:D

Woe didn't really have a hangover, He was crap the year before he won it, he was crap the year he won it (still not sure how he won it), and he was crap the year after he won it. He's quite consistant.

From memory he didn't even poll in Melbourne's best and fairest count for that rd 22 game. Strange that, second best on ground from the umps, but not in his own teams best in their count.

so it's agreed? conspiracy against scott west? what i find disgusting is that woewodin was already guaranteed the brownlow, but he and his partner didn't celebrate until his round 22 votes were read out - at which point he celebrated like a goose.

Scott West or Kouta probably should have won it that year.

another brownlow conspiracy - Wanganeen in 1993, Greg Williams was down right robbed!

And another reason why the Brownlow is a sham. Kouta was universally regarded as the best player in 2000 - West even though he was awesome that year was no where near Kouta's brilliant season. He won the AFLPA MVP by plenty - as voted by his peers and why this award should get more recognition than the Brownlow. Having fellow players voting for you is worth far more than any umpire.

AFLPA MVP > Brownlow.

Koutoufides was the best player in 2000. No question about it - even though he missed a chunck of that Collingwood game and Rounds 20 - 22 throughout the home and away season. Woewodin was not even selected in the AA side and if you say he was better than any of Kouta, West and Buckley that year then you're no better than Yze_Magic.

You sounded quite convincing until you mentioned Buckley.:o

Aye, Diesel was robbed alright. How many possessions did he get in that game without scoring a vote?

And he only went down by one from memory.
