From a Geelong perspective, Selwood getting a vote in his comeback game against Brisbane. He was terrible that game. Also Steve Johnson missing out on three votes against Melbourne with 34 possessions, seven goals, five clearances, six inside 50s and eleven score assists. Laughable. I don't think there's any argument that Corey Enright was the best player on the ground in Round 2 against Fremantle. Zero votes.

Swan getting 3 for his game against St Kilda at the dome.

My biggest concern is that we have an award that's decided by maggots. I'm surprised Ray Chaimberlain didn't vote for himself.

It's going to sound like sour grapes, but Cal Ward getting a vote in Round 24 is just silly. One of the most un-Ward like games I remember him playing. Was floating around the back of packs, with his mind clearly elsewhere.

Hodge getting more votes this year than last year despite being not even close to the level he was last year

It's Chas vote-lag, the main reason Swan polled so well too.

The footballing public had Swan as big favourite last year, the votes didn't come his way, the umpires feel a little embarrassed.

Next year they overcompensate, Swan shits in the votes. Same thing to a lesser extent with Hodge. Same thing with Ablett in 09 after Cooney took it out.

"Special" Bruce was pretty WTF all night. He nearly broke Swannys hand in the handshake at the very end :D

Leon Davis all Australian backman and very influential to a number of the pies wins this year and yet still only polled a couple of votes. Thought he might have at least got double figures?!

This thread comes up every year...we all know the Brownlow is an unbelievably biased midfielders award, IMHO the Coaches and MVP awards mean more to me than the Brownlow at this stage.

Look at all the games best players that haven't won a Brownlow...Matthews, Ablett Snr, Carey, Dunstall etc etc

After the last two years in particular, the Brownlow is losing its credibility, take the voting off the umpires, but the AFL will not make that decision. Swan and Judd should swap years.

Swan hardly got a kick in the 1st half of the year, hence the forced break and trip to Arizona...thought Pendlebury had a much better season.

Matthew Boyd getting a gizillion possessions, Griff getting 28 odd, Barry getting 5 goals, Ward doing Sweet F..k all, and he gets a vote - WTF

Dane Swan polling 34 votes....

One around round 5 I think it was where Judd smashed the game and didn't get a single vote.

Have you ever umpired a game. You focus on where the ball is - picking votes after is very impressionistic and virtually impossible - even in a junior comp

That is the problem right there...

Yep, you simply cannot get votes as a backman.

Unless i've missed someone I think Birchall got the most votes of any backman with a total of 7. He is an attacking standout multi possession player too.

Pendlebery getting the 3 against us in round 3 was a bit odd. Was one of his quieter games of the season.
Pretty sure you could lip read Pendles say "That was my worst game of the season"!

The umps made up for it giving Judd three against us in the second match, when he had a 40% disposal efficiency. Butchered it horribly.

Marc Murphy polled in 12 games, and got 8 1 voter's. Incredibly stiff he was, particularly the Brisbane game, he was clear BOG there.

I'm surprised nobody picked up the round 5 Fremantle/Footscray game where Matty Boyd had 28 kicks, 17 handballs and failed to pick up a single vote. Kepler Bradley got the three votes...

Not to mention that Jay Van Berlo pretty much won us that game and didn't get the three votes.

Not only did Boyd get 45 touches and not vote but Callan Ward in his last game for the Bulldogs had a stinker as the world watched on. He polled 1 vote:confused:
