He's in my team at CHF. I think he has had a good year and the fact is there isn't much competition. He's a high impact player and has played well in many games.

Personally I don't think Hall is the lock that everyone else says, don't think he has had that many good games.

Hall & Jack are FFs, Stevie J, Green & LaCras forward pockets.

For example, I decided to look up the men posted above who are AA candidates and vying for his place - LeCras, Hall, Johnson and Green (Riewoldt gets FF as Coleman winner and Didak gets HFF as the usual 'midfield rotation' spot).

Interesting that Franklin gets more possessions, lays more tackles AND kicks more goals than ALL of them.

If it was picked purely on exposed form of games played, then Nick would be a lock. However, while Buddy has missed 5, how many has Nick missed? 10? Might be just too many. Does anyone think Nick Reiwoldt will be selected?

Mind you, not sure why you mentioned who you would rather have as FF. Buddy is nowhere near being a FF these days and the other Reiwoldt has that spot sewn up in any case.

And has kicked 5 goals 6 times this year from 16 matches from the half forward flank/midfield.

I would actually say he has been very consistent this year but less destructive than 2008 for instance. He has contributed more often than not and the only thing that I see as stopping him from being a certainty is that he hasn't turned one or two of those 5 goal hauls into a 7+ haul.

However, this is judging him as a FF where he doesn't play. If you look at his season with regard to the role he has played, he has been very consistent and very good.

It's not all about goals and possessions. This constant "goal average per game" stuff is nonsense. Hall for example is never going to average the same number of passessions as Franklin but he straightens that team up far more than Franklin does Hawthorn he is also far more precise with his disposals than Franklin is and he is more damaging contested mark.

If AA was filled by players averaging the most possessions/goals/tackles etc it woul be filled with Andrew Carazzo types. To me it is about a player's impact and THIS year I think Jack and Hall have had greater impact.

Not weighing into this particular argument but I will make a comment on this line. He might be a better contested mark but there is no relevance in saying he is a more damaging contested mark.

How damaging a player is is determined by how they dispose of the ball, not how they take possession of it.

1. Franklin straightens Hawthorn up just as much as Hall straightens the Dogs up.

2. Franklin is one of our best field kicks and users of the ball.

3. Yes, Hall is a better contested mark.

Franklin has won games off his own boot this year for us and I will take a guy who averages 3.5 goals and 18.4 touches as a roaming forward/midfield player, compared to blokes who get the same amount of goals and 6 less posessions a game as stay at home forwards.

Franklin should definitely be in the team. And what's with people thinking LeCras should be in there? He's only been good since he kicked 12 in a game, he didn't do anything before that. I'd take Franko, Chapman, Green, Steve Johnson and Milney over him. LeCras' time was last year.
