Burton off Justice is served

batton down the hatches people....

The real storm is about to erupt from the opposition clubs (especially down port way) upon hearing this result...

But i too am celebrating the justice being served (and luck of some players, burton should go by a x-lotto ticket quickly)

one must wonder though why the original decision of the tribunal wasn't that it was negligent rather than reckless ???? Perhaps it's not as accurate as it should be in first instance ??

To tell you the truth, I came on here immediately after finding out, purely to see some P*rt bleating. Hope I’m not going to be disappointed :D

Justice IMO, it was a legitimate bump off the ball, prior to him attempting to pick up the pill. This sort of thing is what the physical game of footy is all about.

Yes the heritage jumper and the Burton incident are making are evil cousins very hot under the collar.

Burton was very lucky IMHO. Nowhere near as bad as Picketts but certainly worth 1 or 2.

Perhaps Burton was rewarded for telling the truth last time.

Honesty is the best policy. As soon as you have exceptions you are on a slippery slope to moral decay.

He probably did get 1, discounted to less than one. That's what's not clear to me - he wasn't "cleared" was he, just that they reduced the severity. ?

More than likely Stiffy & i hope Triggy replies with the same answer he gave in regards to the heritage jumper.
I think we got Port to thank for this one.

John Reid was on 5AA earlier and he said that he was actually there for the Shattock's appeal where his suspension was reduced from 3 to 2 weeks. The basis for the appeal were very similar. It sounds like Reidy attending Shattock's appeal gave us an insight on how we can beat the charge.

That just adds more fuel to the fire :D

Im not gonna rant and rave about the inconsistencies in the tribunal decisions this year.

All I will say is Burton should feel lucky. How many suspension points does this leave him with now? 80-something?

pathetic decision by the tribunal he should of been gone for AT LEAST 2 weeks

It's not netball FFS.

Talk about overreaction by everyone. On todays standards he should have gone for one but the AFL needs to lighten their stance on incidents like this.

spot on big fella

I thought he should have taken the week, but well done to the club for contesting it and getting the right result.

He didn't deserve to be sidelined for that innocuous bump.

A result that'll annoy opposition fans and some of you Burton-hating Crows fans alike.

Superb. ;)

Exactly as I see it. The way the game is going it will end up as a non-contact sport.

I'm delighted to see that he had his sentence reduced to less than 1 game (73 points I think I heard), particularly as we learnt from our cross-town cousins just how to do that. :)

which is why he was still found guilty of the lesser charge of negligence - he has not been cleared completely, just a lesser charge which has a reprimand instead of banning.

Which is a point most are also conveniently or ignorantly overlooking.

Well pointed out, our intrepid traveller-in-waiting. ;)
