There are many quality coaches in waiting around Afl clubs. Brad has taken us on a natural step forward but i do not believe he has it in him to take the next step. If 4-9 is our limit then a premiership is unlikely, and winning elimination and semi finals become empty.

Dew, Bolton, Ratten, Lloyd are all senior assistants at clubs with a defined winning culture who have aspirations of senior coaching.

hiw can you say that? Have you interviewed the 40+ assistant coaches out there? I've seen Josh Franco at North Adelaide first hand and he'd make a better coach. I'd look at anyone from Hawks or Freo. Certainly look at Nathan Bassett, proved himself at SANFL and has learnt not what to do under Hird, after spending a year learning from Bomber T

Conveniently brads contract will expire at the same time we will start to see the back of a host of older players. Some will retire at the end of next year (boomer, spud, maybe wells if can't get himself right). If brad can't get us to a flag either this year or next, or tab the very least have us very close in a prelim next year (and also showing that he can improve the team from a consistency stand point), then next year will be his last.

In that case get the best young coach available. Go all in for a mini rebuild. 2 years down the bottom with top 5 picks. Maybe try some aggressive trading of any older players that won't be around for an opening window in 2020/2021.

His zenith has been reached. I do not believe he has it in him to take us near the big dance, and he's almost proved that this season. We've been ok. nothing more, nothing less. Brad scott is ok. He'd get a job at a failing carlton or a directionless gold coast because he'd make them competitive, but he wouldn't take them further than that. We should be on the look for someone who can.
