At some stage a player at your club in these situations MUST take the Hodge roll on ......
Drew , Booma ...who ?
Does this player just not exist on your list ...

Hodge? This must be a joke... That bloke has built a career on being fake-tough and frolicking in the media that blows wind up his a***. P*** off to your own board and reflect on how your side got outplayed by Gold Coast for 3 quarters you flog.

We seem to be following a pattern. Last year was pretty horrible at R9, then from Rd 11 we played like heroes for the rest of the season - until the finals and some pressure. 2010 wasn't much different, though we only won 10.
This is looking like a coaching issue - he needs to change something. The team is way better than when he took it over, yet - hey - it's not working.
That said, leadership on the ground needs some work as does closing out games. The last 10 minutes or so looked like no-one in charge on the ground.

I think i get where ur heading, but if it wasnt working we wouldnt even be close to winning, we would be getting belted week in week out. We are lacking on field not off.

Has he been sacked yet?, haven't heard any news, hopeful before I go to bed.

Yep. Just like Geelong should have sacked Thompson in 2006
I love this response. Look at West Coast and Pies going after Malthouse, Sydney getting rid of Eade and Lions getting Matthews out of retirement. All worked pretty well! If we don't make finals this year Brad is on his last chance. And we won't make finals now. If we lose to Saints in Boomers 350 then Brad better fall on his sword.

Far too many muppets calling for Brad's head after another close loss.

I'm just as devastated as the next bloke but i think it's a bit premature to be calling for Brad's head.

We've done a lot of things right for 90% of games this year and at times are lacking the concentration and maturity to finish things off.

One thing we have improved on is the lowering of the eyes coming into the F50. We hit up some good leads this arvo.

Make no doubt about it, these losses are hurting the boys and will see them come out the other side better for it.

I dont understand how its Scott's fault you lost the game in the last 5 minutes. Why didn't your players push for a lead and play keepings off for the last few minutes instead of bombing to a contest?
Because it hasn't been drilled into them by the coach. When players keep making the same mistakes then the teaching methods aren't working.

If the coach is responsible for the players not keeping their nerve then by all means lash out at Scott. I don't think that blaming the coach is helpful to your club nor the team. You have been very unfortunate this year with so many tight games that you have lost in the dying minutes and it is compounded each time that it happens and it gets into the player's heads.

You have the makings of a great team and your players have come a long way in the last couple of years. The wins will come and in turn so will a winning culture. Your players simply need to learn how important it is to finish off the opposition so they don't get a sniff. Right now your players are content to just try and win a game rather than try and demolish the opposition. The killer instinct has not yet been developed but I would imagine that you now have the recipe to create it. Your players will be getting sick of this shit happening week in and week out.

Keep the faith.

Lose a close game once, shame on you. Lose a close game twice, shame on me. Lose 9 close games in the same fashion under the same coach, shame on every &^#$^& that thinks it's all roses and hey we are improving like the Doggies and 2 prelims with this group will be just dandy.

He is a great player development coach, he is a horrendous senior coach. Our window has now been pushed further back which is just as well, because according to you Scott lovers it's our senior players fault. Nothing better than to wait for Boomer, Petrie, Firrito, Thompson and Wells to retire before we make a push for the top 4.

We are the worst defensively coached team I can recall. No other good team in recent memory has such a horrid record in close games.

Not the coach's fault. We are a far better side this year than last. What happens in the last 5 minutes of a game is largely up to the players.

we were out on our feet, so it was always going to be hard. I just don't know why he doesn't stack the backline in those situations. Is it a pride thing? To run out games & still be attacking?

HE did stack the backline.

we had 1 extra small back and nobody spare directly in front of goal at all for 3 of their last 4 goals. The Crows stacked the back half with 14 players when they hit the front.

Buddha Hocking played 18 defensive side of centre to teach a lesson once in Perth, I'd have been happy with that in the last 3 minutes.

Hey can he not flood the back line in the last minute??
not sure scott is the blame for this, senior players would have license to take matters into their own hands in the dying minutes of each quarter. Geelong, Hawks, Pies and Swans would have all won by 10+ points today coz A Bartell, Hodge, Sidebottom or Bolton would have sensed the danger and actioned it.

also s l ow the game down at least once a quarter for that 2/3 minutes when you are winning to give your hard runners a breather or two so they can see the game out. we are experiencing similar situations/problems @ tigerland.

Do you remember the Port Adelaide game last year? Tell me how we have gotten any better.
Do you remember the Hawthorn and West Coast (finals game) from last year?

You'll find our performances have improved, yes finishing games is still an issue but if you can't see how we have improved then i don't know what games you are watching.

Yes it's frustrating to watch, we have played better this year then at any stage of last year in my opinion. We have absolutely dominated great sides but due to 1 or 2 **** ups we have happened to lose the games. Great sides don't do that, we aren't a great side yet and when Brad fixes this issues we will be a great side. This will be fixed.

Do you remember the Geelong and Collingwood games last year? Pretty sure we beat them!

Unfortunately, we attempt exactly that. Yet, we fail dismally time and again.

23 mins or so into the second quarter, we attempt to maintain possession, but fall into attacking habits or make poor decisions. There were plenty of examples throughout the game. JMac at the end of the 2nd (the first example I can think of, and is one of many), on defensive 50 trying to hit Majak, with a "short" lace out pass that goes relatively down the corridor. A 50/50 that was always the wrong choice. He had the option to switch to Thompson earlier and refused to pull the trigger, which was fair enough, but chose to execute on a riskier option, instead of heading down the boundary to Goldy and forcing it out or forcing a stoppage.

Resulting in an unnecessary turnover goal.

F*ck me. The sh!t that gets sprouted on this board after a loss is hilarious (or it would be if it wasn't so idiotic). Last week when we were in the same situation we all asked the same questions - why didn't we put a spare back? Why didn't we take the full 30 seconds on the kick? Why didn't we have someone try and create a sideways/backwards options.

Tonight we did all these things and we still lost, it is not the f**king coaches fault

Do you remember showing your lack of judgement on certain players who represent this club?

Do you remember calling Lindsay Thomas the biggest squib, that should never pull on the NMFC jumper, because get this, he lacks the heart and passion?

Where was he today when the going got tough?
