I know it is only half way through the season but I was wondering who will be leaving the Freo list at the end of the season?.

Parker (retire)

McManus (retire)

Haines (retire)

Woods, Siegert, Browne - trade?.

Any other suggestions?.

Macca has a 2 year contract and wont be going anywhere.

My prediction:
Parker and McManus will retire.
Browne, Peake, Haines, Woods will be delisted.
Dunn & Schammer traded.

Why would we delist Browne and trade Schammer (who is contracted for next season) when we are desperate for pace through the midfield? Browne's barely played WAFL this year due to injury and Schammer has struggled since returning from a fractured wrist but both are extremely important players for Fremantle, especially considering Schofield, Bell and Cook don't have many seasons left.

Woods to be traded. It's not like he hasn't got the ability, it's his commitment that's the worry. 2nd Round pick maybe?

Hopefully Scham stays, but if push comes to shove and he wanted to go home, I'd expect nothing less than a first round pick and someone in the mould of Ben Hudson or Brogan/Lade from the Crows or our feeder club down at Alberton.

The juries still out on Dunn, what I've seen of him for us and for the Gummies has been fairly impressive, the only problems being that he's decided to play out of the backline, which is hard enough to break into now without Haddrill and Hayden playing, and that he appears to be fairly injury prone. Keep him on for a couple of more seasons and give him a chance for some regular gametime IMO.

We got a 5th round pick for T Lo last year. If I was an opposition coach I would rather have T Lo on my list than Woods, so if Dion is at another club next year we won't get much, if anything (P.S.D.).

Schammer's not getting a game because he has struggled since returning from injury, but will be back to his best and playing for Freo after the split round and won't be going anywhere at seasons end.

I agree that it's hard to make a decision on what we've seen of Dunn so far, but the coaching staff have to make a decision this year. If they think that he will be a quality player then sign him up. If they have any doubts about his ability at AFL level we should trade him. At present he would be worth a 1st round pick but if we sign him up for a couple of years and he doesn't develop we won't get anything for him (like north with Dylan Smith). Obviously he could make the call himself and ask to be traded (the fact that he hasn't re-signed is an indication that this is possible).

Some of u guys are pretty ruthless. I wouldn't be trading Schammer (he only turns 20 this year) unless u got an unbelievable deal. He's got 2 years to run on his contract after this year and all clubs need pacy midfielders with skill. Browne is all of 20/21 as well - u shouldn't throw out guys after 3yrs in the system unless they are carp/not pulling their weight or the trade deal is good.
Also, Warren is on Freo's list and Crowley was elevated from rookie to fill his spot while Warren is on long term injury list after foot surgery.
Agree with Woods being offered for trade but may have low currency by end of season.

No-one at Fremantle would consider trading Schammer. Those suggesting he be traded have very short memories. He won quite a few brownlow votes last year with some amazing games. Is definately one of the better midfield prospects we have.

I still think the kid will set the world alight this year. Especially after the break. Browne i'm not so convinced. Schammer could hopefully become like crawford. A class midfield act who plays on the ball. Browne seems a poor man's Heath Black.

I am a fan of Andrew Browne. He has a good work ethic and really goes hard at it. Unfortunatley he is 178 cm and 76kg and we have too many of these types at the moment. I reckon he will be in the side before years end coming off the bench

Heard that Schammer wants to go home and Browne in my view is not AFL material. Freo needs to trim squad to 35 so it will be interesting.

I'm not so sure about that.

He had the perfect opportunity to go home in the Carr trade but told Mark Williams personally that he didnt want to leave.

Unless something has come up over summer?

Agree that it's an awful topic, so I won't go into who might go... just give the facts.
We have 38 on our senior list. It must be trimmed to 35 before the draft. We have Parker and 5 rookies outside this, that don't count in the 35. The rookies are Warren, Crowley (both were effectively elevated to replace Haines who's on the injury list, so will return to the rookie list when Haines returns), Duffield, Krieger and Juniper. Warren will be 24 next year, so too old to be re-rookied. Crowley, having been re-drafted, could remain a rookie next year. Duffield's been on the list for 2 years, so either must be elevated or delisted (and could then be re-drafted by anyone, including Freo, either onto the senior or rookie list). Krieger and Juniper can stay for a 2nd year.

The following players are young enough to delisted, but then rookie listed (if they survive other clubs not poaching them):
Gilmore, Daniel
Dodd, Steven
Peake, Brett
Browne, Andrew
Polak, Graham
Johnson, Michael
Campbell, Adam
Murphy, Ryan
Schammer, Byron
Mundy, David
Dunn, Ryley
Copping, Benet * can't be delisted... 2 year minimum
Stribling, Toby * can't be delisted... 2 year minimum

So, if we want to keep Warren, then 4 must be delisted/traded. If we want to elevate Crowley (as opposed to keep him on the RL and elevate him next year after an injury), then we need to cull 5.
Excluding last years draftees & rookies, these guys are yet to play a game this year.
Browne, Andrew
Campbell, Adam
Haines, Daniel
Hayden, Roger
Peake, Brett

What a disgraceful topic for this time of the year !

I'd like to suggest a trade of masai for Miss Corby !

Hey fair go Dutchey, if I go you'll have no one to back you up on some of the good things that Gerard did for Freo.

The reason for the post was that I thought that this year is probably the first in which I can't name 4 or 5 players straight away that will be excess to our needs in 2006.

Love Parks, so if he wants to play on, great.

Macca has another year on his contract, oh well he will still be very good to have around the club.

Splinter has stalled in his development, but if wants a game next year he should start to shine above a very ordinary pack at Perth.

Amen to that. I can't believe what I'm reading here. We do the hard yards, sign him up for 3 years at the end of last year, he breaks his wrist preseason, didn't go that badly (if you ask me) when he comes back early, gets 28 disposals in a half of WAFL footy 5 days ago, and people are talking up a Brogan-Schammer trade?

Lunacy of the highest order. Really. He's just turned 20. Age of Bell, Schofield, McManus, Cook anybody?

And a third string ruckman isn't that important for mine. Unless they show promise as a KP forward or backman.

I think we re-signed Campbell this year. If we did he'll be one of the 35.

Okay well how about an astological analysis of how they will perform this weekend?

Well since you asked, I went to astrology.com and found the following:

Pisces (Bell) Things are perking up in the love department, so get your work out of the way and get ready for a big night. Be creative, whether you're planning a hot date or looking to meet someone brand new.
Looks like he will have a tagging job, but he's ready for a big night.

Aquarius (Schofield, McManus, Parker) Peculiarities await you at every turn, and they certainly seem random. Don't just marvel at them and move on, however; there's a pattern here, and it's got a peculiar message for you.
Will get some freakishly bad bounces, but persistence will see them win out in the end.

Leo (Cook) You might want to carry some scissors, because arguing with the person dispensing all that red tape isn't going to get you anywhere. Subtly flying under the radar is easier than agitating to change the system.
Will have a 50 paid against him for abusing an umpire, before cutting his hair at half time, allowing him to repeatedly lose his man who will no longer recognise him.

Yes, I am just killing time this morning.

Thanks for that Tim! The funny thing is, it makes just as much sense and is just as likely to happen as all the nonsense we come up with! :D
