Has been impressing me for well over 12 months, so composed.

There's a reason Josh is in the vfl despite great form. And he'll only get back in if he takes Rivers spot, as there's no way known they will drop Guthrie.
Agree. He has gone from being given games on potential to now owning the spot. Very happy with him.

Called it last week. Fantastic again. Kept Hill to 3 touches, and the one goal Hill got was the result of a clanger from Rivers I think.

Not to mention his decision making.

Key thing that stands out with him.

In heavy traffic, doesn't panic, and chooses the right option.

Seems like they knew what they were doing.

He's improved a lot from the start of the year to now.

Is getting better all the time. He still has not played 50 senior games - and he will be an automatic selection very soon.

Is a good mark, has reasonable pace, good decision maker and follows the GFC team plan. The sort of reliable player that you just over time come really love.

Too many want players to be what we have become used to. It took time for our champs to become , it takes time for kids to be groomed to be adequate replacements. Mistakes are learning opportunities.

I liked Guthrie from back before his drafting when he Capt his U18 side , played as a defensive mid. He is what all side needs , a reliable guy who fly's under the radar. Someone steady , that plays and rolls up and does the job. How long did it take Enright to get cred because he just gradually become that good , he crept up on the "experts". He may develop into a mid but one can already see how valuable a clear thinking player under duress is in "Indian Country". He has his little tricks but when to use them and when not to is what makes you the right guy for the role he is playing. Compare Smedts and Guthrie. One always seems to just go for too much while the other presses enough with out crossing the line.

Guthrie is Capt. material but will probably not get the gig. Having several selfless leaders is an under appreciated facet of the list build. I can see him being the Capt of the backline in the second half of this decade. Add Thurlow and a couple of others , Maybe Bews , maybe someone not on our list yet and we are close to a strong finals winning backline for the next group.

:)

Now all we need is to see him become a part of the midfield rotation and all will be complete ;)

He certainly has the athletic ability to be a midfielder but I think we need him off half back for a while yet. Maybe next year Thurlow can move into the backline and Guthrie can move further up the ground.

Anyhow, I got this one badly wrong, he is looking better every week and I am starting to see what you all saw from the start.

Yeah no probs.
Thurlow is a difficult one. I'm not sure where he is going to fit in.
To me he still seems to get pushed off the ball too easily to hold a back line position. And he seems dangerous up forward.

Class player who has cemented his spot in my opinion, so has Rivers.

Josh Hunt is now a backup player for Guthrie, Mackie, Rivers and Enright.

Corey Enright didn't need to become part of the midfield rotation. :thumbsu:

CS has, however, made it clear that's where he sees him next season.
In addition, of course, it's getting closer and closer to the time when every player rotates midfield except each team's 4 gorillas at KPD/KPF.
