what is his trade value it looks possible he could ask for a trade to adelaide at the end of the season so what can we expect in return?

Where did this come from? lol
think about it if he gets a lack of game time this year which he most likely will. do you think he is gonna stay at the club and be the 3rd ruckman when he can go to a different club and be number 1?

It is his home town too, but I think you are completely overstating the risk of this happening...

For what it is worth, if this highly unlikely scenario did pan out, I would expect we would get Adelaide's first round draft choice from them for him, plus a fringe player. Let's not forget, their first round draft choice this year is likely to be almost in the 20s.

The idea unfortunately came from me as I have recently listed on other threads that trading Wood could be a possibility (depending on Jolly, Fraser and the development of Keeffe and McNamara).

Relating back to the question. Wood is worth a mid first rounder. (Around pick 9/10) as he is now a 1st quality ruckman and at a few clubs would be) - Melbourne, Adelaide, Hawthorn. (Off the top of my head). Maybe even another 1-2 clubs could also be a 1st ruck.

In a trade scenario he could be traded for approx James Sellar (KPF who was a 1st round pick) + Adelaide 1st rounder.

yes the idea come from you :) and i was just interested to see what everyone else did think. i acctually think there is a big possibility it could happen if he doesnt get sufficient game time in the seniours

Delusional! There is no way Craig/Rendell would trade our first round pick for Woods, even in a GC17 biased draft. Then you also throw in another previous 1st rounder (eg. Sellar), that's just crazy! As Craig/Rendell has a well-documented major aversion to trading in the first place, I seriously don't think we would be interested in Woods unless the deal was in our favour.

Looks unlikely to happen to me.
Unless something big happens I don't think he will ask for a trade.
Keep him in the 22 and he won't want to be traded.
End of the season he will hopefully have cemented his spot in the 22.

But he might want to return home.
All we can do is hope that he doesn't.
Looks unlikely to me though.
Let him become a good ruckman and he will stay.:):thumbsu:

Cam Wood would be good for the GC maybe, but i only think he is worth a 1st pick AT BEST! Not a pick and a player, maybe 2nd rd pick and decent player.

Well "Mad Fan of AFL" who is an Adelaide supporter suggested Sellar + 1st round pick 2010 for Wood.

Which while on the surface is sounding like a good trade for Collingwood I probably wouldn't pull the trigger on. Sellar is a fringe player who ultimately is a fringe player who would be behind Travis Cloke, Jack Anthony and Sean Rusling. And a 1st round draft pick won't help us win a premiership now. While Wood would step in immediately and become no.1 ruckman for Adelaide, and is in the right age bracket to support Vince, Tippett and your young group that are your next generation.

Ruckman have high currency, so to get a ruckman of Wood's quality a deal like that would have to be struck.

Wood was drafted as a 1st round pick, was traded for by a 1st round pick and will only be traded for a 1st round pick (if at all).

So I assure you he has much higher currency than a 2nd rounder.

Wood (I hope) is not heading anywhere. From photos at least, he seems to have taken the next step in building his physique to play ruck. That mark from the photos of training on the 15th posted by Nickelass brought a smile to my face (cheers by the way Nickelass).

I actually think this year given Josh's injury concerns he may be used on rotation as the second string ruckmen. He will get somewhere between 6-10 games.

Why would our future No. 1 ruckman be traded? He showed quite a bit towards the end of last season and he will only improve. His ruck work is already better than Fraser, so I can't see why he wouldn't be a regular in the team next season to relieve Jolly.

Why would we trade Wood when he will be peaking when Jolly/Josh retire? He has plenty of time to develop now but he will still get games.

Correctamundo. :thumbsu:

He's not going anywhere.

Hypothetically, A ready made quality FF would be worth looking at if Cam asked for a trade.

Of course he suggested Sellar he is a spud. Adelaide fans don't rate. It would be like us offering a first round pick and cook for someone. Why on earth would we even be thinking of what Wood is worth he is not going anywhere.

Why would we trade Wood when we got him to take over from Fraser ?

Forget fraser as a ruckman now!
Fraser has been told that the pies will go with Wood and Jolly as the ruck combination from this year on.
Wood is still developing and very young he will learn well from Jolly,so Wood can take over the number one ruck option when Jolly's time is over.

Fraser will be used very sparingly, because of his knee problems, he has to be nutured along for the remainder of his career.
Fraser will now only play forward and do a little pinch hitting plus we won't see fraser play every game this year.i reckon he'll play a few games then be rested for a few becuse of his on going knee problems.
We can't get rid of Wood becuse he will be Jolly's backup.

What's the use of getting rid of the a young ruckman to then look for one when Jolly and fraser are finnished ?
