I’m sure he was really upset by the Hawks fans on social...
He’s been tagged into Twitter with insults for months, mate. He would have copped hundreds of notifications last night and today.

He might have a thick enough skin to not care, but I’m sure he’s not exactly enjoying it.

whos this sorry?
Goddard.

Mid/Early this year he made a dumb call and said Worpel had regressed, and copped a lot of social media flak over it.

Last Monday he admitted he was wrong ( before our B&F ) and declared Worpel an A-grader.

I give him credit for saying he was wrong - because not a lot of the footy media would do that..

Thought for a moment we were talking about Blaisee

So yeah, they don't fare as badly as what you otherwise might assume.

Hi Chaisa,

Thanks for the effort, this displays the points made by most non-Geelong (and some Richmond) posters in here perfectly.

The transition has already been in place for the last few years, and with regards to on-field performances, Hawthorn are now mid-table age wise.

You have a bloke who strung a good end to the season winning easily and he wouldnt be in the top 50 players in the comp.

Probably top 5 performer for under 21 players though. Possibly top 3. Was 8th best clearance player in the competition. Averaged more clearances than any bulldog player. Probably wouldn't have come first in the B&F if Mitchell hadn't broken his leg, but a pretty decent effort for a kid that was only 1 game too many away from qualifying for the rising star nominations. Nearly twice as many Brownlow votes as the Rising star winner, and didn't play his best footy until the second half of the year (which makes sense given he's still developing).

I’ve never been one to align age with bad or declining form, but many posters in here have been hung up on the age of Hawthorn’s list going forward so this little stat is interesting.

Statistically one of the best defences but the midfield would have used energy to protect it.

Without the standout player of 2018 the other midfielders had a creditable statistical performance.

Worpel wins bnf partly because mitchells not there, but theres still detractors. Lets see him keep it up they say
Not in the top 50 players they say. Bnf in a non finals team they say.

Well he may not need to because one of the premier mids will be back next year.

I think this worpel love fest needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Inside midfielder ina middle of the range team is probably the easiest position to play in the afl.

its not like he is a young KP defender or forward dominating in a middle of the road team.

He is a one paced extractor, not dissimilar to Anthony Miles to be honest

Getting stats in the AFL is closely correlated to opportunity, he gets plenty of opportunities to get the ball, and arguably just like Tom Mitchell this opportunity is allowed by the oppo coaches because to be honest the hurt factor is very very low

Good honest battler but with a limited ceiling

Incredibly similar player to Dion Prestia in my opinion, who has only received the love of the public this season really (well deserved too). Worps has had individual success quicker than the meatball, so will be interesting to compare careers once Worps is 9 years in.

Prestia was rated pretty good generally after his '14 season - suns 10 wins

Would you swap him for Jack Ross?
