This thread is going to be hilariously entertaining in October. The best is yet to come.![]()

In all likelihood they miss this year, bet on it at the start of the year. Mind you I backed Demons top 4 so you win some you lose some.
Interesting to see what the predictions are for 2020 though, depending on off season list changes and recruitment, I'd still have them missing finals next year, pending who they bring in/lose.

Hawthorn lost by a kick to the Eagles after kicking 9.17.
On the weekend they kicked 7.18 and were in control for the majority of the day.
Thatās certainly an alternate viewpoint. You were in control for 15 minutes to start the game but like a mid tier team you were not able to convert your chances. (As an Essendon fan I know this feeling)
After that you were forced into hard shots on goal by Brisbane (with a few exceptions) whereas you let them walk into to easy goals down the other end.
Annnnnnddddd, you lost me here.Worpel is a limited football, Mitchell Lewis hasn't really done much, and that's about it.
Hawthorn are playing a very risky strategy
They are relying on the cache of Clarkson to get free agents to come and save them.
Good luck with that, up to now all they have been able to attract are perennially injured mercenaries .
IE JOM, Scully. Wingard has been disappointing. Frawley Henderson, Sburger Birchall on their last legs

The fact that Clarko has somehow made it look like they are an attractive destination for free agents has been the best marketing spin I can remember.
They are cooked .

that's fine
These views aren't really controversial... unless you go Hawthorn
Worpel is top 6 in the league in clangers, and at the same age, Cleve Hughes averaged more goals per game than Mitchell Lewis
I agree but a few of them are a hope/guess though, so that doesn't count for anything at this stage.IN
Mitchell
Coniglio
Patton
Scrimshaw
Top 10 draft pick
OUT
Roughead
Puopolo
Birchall
Smith

Cats at the Cattery I am nervous about, simply because WC historically plays poorly there. For sure, Lion's were much more efficient going inside 50, which they should be given where they are at compared to us.
I was responding to the suggestion that Clarko was out coached.
Fagan and Hodgey have got him in the past but yesterday was not one of those times where our game plan was the issue, we went out with a plan that restricted Brisbane's scoring opportunities and gave us enough to win, the difference was conversion in front of goal, Brisbane got that right and won, we missed easy shots and paid the price.
Thatās like your opinion man.
4 premierships in 11 years - we are meant to be cooked.
This year the Hawks will have elite draft talent and free agents. They might just jump back a little faster than you all would like.
West Coast are in the box seat for the premiership imo. Settled game plan, mature squad without being too old, reasonable run with injuries, MCG holds no fears.Cats at the Cattery I am nervous about, simply because WC historically plays poorly there.
At the MCG, it is whichever team turns up on the day.
The only opposition team I don't want to play is Brisbane. They have that young team confidence of having a free hit (Hawthorn 08, Dogs 16) and like WC have a lot of scoring power. Unlike WC they are consistently strong at contested ball and midfield pressure. Even if WC do as Hawthorn did and find a way to restrict their supply, they could still win.
Thatās certainly an alternate viewpoint.
Richmond in my opinion should be favourites.West Coast are in the box seat for the premiership imo. Settled game plan, mature squad without being too old, reasonable run with injuries, MCG holds no fears.
Brisbane do look good, but you do wonder whether theyād be overawed.
Six defeats this season when 1.5+ years older than the opposition. Has happened 25 times previously.
There are a few exceptions where a premiership was won soon after (West Coast 2017, North Melbourne 1997 and 1975), but none of the other clubs in this boat won a flag in the following eight years, with most being anchored in the bottom half of the ladder.
Alternate reality, is should have said.Yes. Alternate to yours.
not sure what any of that stuff that happened historically has to do with the reality of the present.
This time last year Tom Lynch was a hawk, sanity prevailed.
You will get free agents no doubt, you have TPP room, the question remains, will they be like Scully and Wingard? IE limited
