This thread is about hawthorn not Carlton.
You need to stay on topic.
Missing out on Cogs on a mil a year plus some retirements will allow the Hawks to sure up long term the salaries for Siss, Worpel and Lewis and bring in some others. I know Cogs is a quality player but the $ mentioned for one player is insane!
When?That's been pretty clearly stated.

Sorry but I'm not going to partake in your derailment of this thread. Have a good day. When?
Patton is 100% going. You're stuck with him
Why’s that hard to believe? Three of the Hawks top 10 highest paid players will depart they are Smith, Burgoyne and Roughead.
Then you’ve got the following out of contract players
Glass
Birchall
Ceglar
Schoenmakers
Puopolo
Pittonet
Langford
Henderson
Mirra
Ross
Moore
Minchington
Mohr
Jones
Hanrahan
Miles
Reeves
Greaves
Golds
There you go. Smith is on 600k, Burgoyne and Roughead about 500k. Go and add it all up brah.
I'm hoping plan B is melbournes number two pick and project Anderson.
That way everyone in this thread can say they were "wright"
GC are getting a priority pick (they will lets be real). Rowell and Anderson will go there.
Yep. Articles too.
There's a problem here though, as a lot of those are rooks or depth players. Meaning they'd already be on a very low wage. You have to replace them too, which means that they're not really clearing cap space. Example - Greaves, Golds, Mohr, Ross, Miles, Jones and Moore would all be on basement wages (80-120K or so). You clear all of them out, best case scenario, you end up with 840K or so. Patton's salary is around 600K or so, but now you need 6 other players to fill the list spots.
I agree that Burgoyne, Roughy and Smith will help you clear around 1.5 MIL though, so you should be able to cover Patton, Amon, Greenwood and maybe someone like Carlisle if some others move on. That would be a solid trade period
Sadly yes. On the other hand Finns GF was a Hawk too. Norm played 53-58 according to wikip
anyone fancy a Mid with pick 11?
We wont be paying Patton that, when a player moves you do a new contract.
Hawthorn punishing GWS for Coniglio not wanting to play at Hawthorn?I have a feeling GWS might now find they are paying some of Pattons contract
What are you on about?Sorry but I'm not going to partake in your derailment of this thread. Have a good day.
curious what the hawks will do in the draft and trade periods now.Mitchell our hurt, as expected.
What really cooked our season was a month of games where we lost players during games, so we not only missed out on the 4pts, but then had to contend with a number of players sitting out weeks. Shiels, Burgoyne, Frawley, McEvoy, Smith, Wingard....which meant we were running thin in a lot of important positions and roles. As a result some other players couldn’t be rested or managed when they may have been if the list was fit and healthy, so they’ve struggled through, but their form is now poor and the entire group bar a handful of players look like they could do with another bye already.
Our young mids are not yet seasoned players so Worpel and Cousins will tire, and O’Meara is heavily tagged most weeks without much help. That doesn’t leave much in the way of depth.
The Mitchell inury has had a flow in effect.

I know they have picks 10 and 28. I doubt they will trade that to get a top 5 pick, unless they have an eye on a certain gun kid.
small forward averaging 27+ disposals the past monthThe people saying Coniglio rejected Hawthorn are grossly ill-informed.
The Hawks strategically denied recruiting Cogs so they could get Tomlinson. Was all part of a master plan.
They did this last year as well. Denying Shiel a trade so they could get an above average injury prone small forward.
Fair point. Hopefully he can take that form into September.small forward averaging 27+ disposals the past month

I'd be stunned if an Essendon fan knew what good September form looks like
