I think not. Japan which is much closer to North Korea than we are and will be more affected have refused to sign up to the plan to intercept ships suspected of carrying Wmds.Yet our Pm is again amongst the first nation to agree to participate in excercises with this in mind.Please can he for once tell us the truth about our comitment instead of doing what he did before the Iraqu war and send our troops just in case we join when he knew that we were committed .
 
Fair goes it is hard for an aus PM to say no to the US but he could be a lot smarter in keeping options open.
History shows australia and NZ would be 'punished' by the US for any opposition or even neutrality.

Perhaps simon creans recent leadership challenge had a bit to do with his too-independent stance in the iraq 'crisis'

Sounding even more war-like than the US president doesn't help - a bit dishonest too when the australian armed forces are barely enough for defense and certainly not offensive.
