Labour got smashed in a by election in the UK and so did the conservatives… with an election on the horizon this will be interesting times. IMG_1902.jpeg

Under 20% combined primary vote for Labour & Tories?
That's a smashing, and people are clearly pissed off

Some background

Yep... can't take this at face value in a historically Labour/left-wing constituency where the Labour candidate was disendorsed.

But still a historically significant result and a particularly bad result for the Tories where, in the absence of a serious Labour candidate, they still managed to only finish third.

Galloway is a large voice … and his support for Gazza.

You'd hope so. The UK is ****ed at the moment. The people running it are scum and the opposition are no different.

I listened and watched alot of Mick Lynch the Train unionist… the way he cut through the bullshit from main stream media and the government was awesome to watch..
I’d love Corbin and Mick Lynch to join Galloway in the workers Party and force a minority government.

Interesting to see what happens here. He several times claimed to have received the 'majority' or even the "thumping majority" of the vote - well, no he didn't, it's called a plurality mate. So the questions from the interviewer regarding those worried about him, that didn't vote for him - should matter.

I'm not sure very socialist policy is the best idea going forward, but here we are folks, Labour has ignored the people they are supposed to represent for too long; the influence of the WP going forward will be worth watching.

He got more votes than the next 2 candidates combined …

Too many people are still around who remember the 70's when there was a lot of state owned companies and utilities that spent most of the decade on strike , producing crap (british Leyland) and ongoing power cuts. The union's were a law unto themselves. Although there were some sound reasons for pushing for big pay rises as there was out of control inflation the economy was shot.
Maggie Thatcher went too far the other way with trickle down theory and massive sell offs of state enterprises and strike busting like the infamous miners strike. Neil Kinnock and Michael Foot kept trying to recreate a socialist state for Labour and were rejected by the electorate (1983 possibly affected by the bounce that Thatcher got after the Falklands war)
A worker's party is a throwback to those days , to create a socialist model that would work in the 21st century is a completely different beast and Corbyn had plenty of opportunity to push for this when he was labour leader.
Galloway has had a very chequered past and bi- elections are notorious for protest votes. I don't hold a lot in him becoming a major force in UK politics.
Agree that Mick Lynch is very impressive and has been for a long time.
