Carlton a flag chance in 2026.

I knew you'd struggle with comprehension!

Why didn't you continue on with Cotchin and Dusty "quality youth".

Mate, Cotchin was labelled the worst captain in the comp by all and sundry - do you not remember the Port Adelaide elimination final? Do you not remember his finals record in general? The reputation he had for getting cheapies?

Dusty had just snuck into the bench of the AA team for the first time in 2016, he was good with huge potential but nobody thought he’d have a year like 2017.

Carlton’s list at the moment has twice as many AA players than Richmond’s did pre-2017.

There’s a reason they were paying $67 for the flag that year. Their own footy boss conceded they stuffed up their entire list build at the end of 2016.

Whilst I don’t think Carlton are a realistic chance for the flag in 2026 or anytime soon, the re-writing of the success of Richmond by footy fans as if it was an impeding guaranteed dynasty is outrageous.

Thread is already wrecked by Collingwood trolls. If only there was a banter thread somewhere...
You're letting Walshy off lightly here inferring the only issue is Collingwood posters. He's just as bad, and arguably delusional in his defence of the Blues.

Been a big off season for Carlton and some real quality has been injected into the list.

Blues have also cleared players who wanted to move on, and have brought in talent that is hungry

It’ll be a new game plan in 2026, not quite flag ready but heading in the right direction

Might be going on my own here but I think blues will be a better side in 2027 than now,got some decent picks from Charlie and filled a couple more holes on the list, should be younger and quicker with some good father sons coming as well and won’t miss curnow half assed efforts

Make finals first.
But missing these next 2 years again.
More finals chances in say 2028 we can then talk flags.
Interested in the post tho.
A couple of lean years methinks.
They will stagnate for the next 2 years.
3 years then things have to go either way i think

- 2025 like the 2019 demons. Season ruined crippled with injuries.

- 2026 things could fall in their direction. A fully fit Carlton squad can do damage.

- 2027-8 finals .

The playing list is there.

The core is good. Weitering in the backline is good.

Walsh (when fully fit) , Cripps and Cerra are all solid inside mids.

Curnow and McKay fully fit can cause problems.

There is a 3 or 4 year window with this current playing list
With the off season recruiting, and change up in game plan, the above dates seem reqsonable

Curnow gone gives Harry more room, and agree there is a window with this list.
They need to achieve with it, otherwise it’ll be a waste

Carlton have the potential to be a good side next year after making a few tweaks to their list and game plan. People say that Carlton will struggle without Curnow but similar things were said about Richmond and how they were going to struggle without Deledio, and we know how things turned out for Richmond.

The few times I watched Carlton this year, Curnow's body language was shocking and he barely seemed to care. I think they will be a much better side without him.

To be a flag chance they need to be much better than their best recent season of 2023. They might be better than in 2025, but to win a few more games than 2023 would be surprising.
