I just wanted to add another perspective on players being perceived as selfish when taking shots for goal during games like this. The weather was absolutely torrid and getting possessions to connect throughout the field was extremely difficult. We were seeing dropped marks and handballs constantly. Maybe that would be on the mind of a player like Shaun when sizing up the sticks and deciding whether or not to pass or shoot.

Yep and I can tell you that only highlighting positives in high performance sport isn’t at all realistic.

I agree on every point you’ve made on his abilities and performance, however, I would also like to see some team goals as well.

Surely people can raise that?
49 of his 69 score involvements have been "team scores" though. That's my whole point. Anyway, we are just boring people now. I've raised the points I wanted to. He had another great game.

GEELONG defender Tom Stewart has no case to answer for his brutal bump on Gold Coast skipper Noah Anderson, with the Match Review Officer ruling the incident did not constitute a reportable offence.

"It was the view of the MRO that Stewart's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and did not constitute a reportable offence," the MRO said in a statement on Sunday.

87% of the time he has a team focus. Of the 13% where he decides to go for goal instead, maybe a small fraction of that could also be assisting team mates. A player winning the ball 20 odd times across half forward will likely have a ping at goal 2 or 3 times a game, unless they're Miers (who is an exceptionally rare type of player).

Want me to run the stats on Cameron? They'll show he has a MUCH more selfish profile concerning scoring shot to score involvement/disposal ratio. And I'd argue most of the time he is also justified in that.
The issue here, is I don’t disagree with anything you’ve raised on his performance. So why do you need to bring in Cameron?

All I would like to see is a little more sharing the ball as mostly I see him as a see goal kick goal sort of player.

It’s not hard to accept I may see the game differently than you, where I note he’s an exceptional player that’s vital for us, however, I also see something he could improve on.

I was banned from reacting to posts for a week as I laugh emoji'd a Richmond post about Geelong on their board, otherwise I'd have just ended this exchange with a like. But yes there is always room for improvement, I simply thought it was wrong to characterise Mannagh purely on selfishness when so much of his play benefits others. You had already offered the negative, I offered a case for the defence, now everyone is happy and we should grab some lemonade!

So nothing for MOC getting his head taken off? Bullshit

Don’t remember seeing contact on the umpire by Martin at all.

I don't either, especially not the first quarter

I do remember Martin going off at the umpire in the second quarter though after Rowell was awarded a free kick for high contact in the forward 50, following what probably should have been a holding the ball decision. He honestly looked ready to go the umpire before being pulled back and then there was a "discussion" with a few GC players

It wasn't a great look but at the same time it's good to see a player showing they care

I get the whole 'umpire is sacrosanct' thing, but can you imagine how frustrating it'd be for players to develop and maintain the professionalism required at the highest level, only to find they must cope with the amateur, inept quality of umpiring that too often afflicts a game?!

Thoughts and prayers are with Richmond fans tonight....

One thing i like about Mullin tagging is it will allow him to observe and learn from the players he is tagging and around them whilst doing it
Yes, Trickle down effect. Seemed to help OConnor.
Mullin is showing glimpses of what he could be (along with liberal doses of clangers.)
He is a strong quick unit with all the physical attributes to be a solid afl player.
Not out of the woods yet, but worth persisting with.
