I know the old saying take it one week at a time but looking at the fixture if we can topple the pies and then beat the kangas(which we should) then we will head into the big geelong game with five straight wins- the first time we would have done that since 2001. If we do that how much of a chance are we against the cats?

To guarantee a finals spot we need to win you'd think 3 of the final 6 games and in the losses not dent our % too badly.

We should pencil in our games against the Roos and Melbourne as 90% certainties, meaning we need to win 1 out of our games against Pies/Cats/Port/Adel

If we do happen to beat the pies and then the roos... the thing we've been lacking in recent years is self-belief. With some self-belief and confidence anything is possible... so by the time we meet the cats we could very well take confidence in our efforts against the Saints (whom bar Geelong we've come the closest to knocking them off).

Our blessing is that Fev seems to be over his injury and is hitting form... and Murphy, Simpson and Judd are working well together, Hampson is improving considerably.. and our defence cruelled by injuries in recent weeks to Bower/Thornton/Jamison will be more settled in the coming weeks as all will be there.. and our bottom 6 players are trying really hard each week to maintain their spot.

Geelong is a real test...we would need a full list fully fit and in form to beat them i reckon. unless they have a really bad day and we capilise on it.

my predictions:
pies, geelong and adelaide are losses..the others should be wins.

While I'm not expecting a win, I definitely don't think it's a forgone conclusion. We've shown we list against the better sides - beaten 3 of the 5 teams on top of us, 2 comfortably. Only Geelong has come closer to the Saints. Adelaide game is the one exception.

Excited and will be interesting to see how we go against a true benchmark.

Pies first.

They are still eying off a possible top 4 spot. Going to be smarting after that loss to the Hawks and will come out all guns blazing.

Cant wait for Friday.

Will post in here again after then!

If we win against the Cats, that'd mean we've won matches, as it stands with 3 of the top 4 and came within 9 points of the ladder leaders.

Just an intersting note....

St.Kilda are better then Geelong (by a considerable margain) this season, and we pushed st.kilda within 9 points earlier at their home ground, so as to whether we can capable of beating them in rnd 19 ...

Give AJ the job on Cry Baby Jnr, and try and contain Bartel and Joel Corey to limitied output, and hope Fev can finally kick a bag on Scarlett, and we would be in with a big chance.

People don't realise how big a loss Brad Ottens is, and even if he does play in rnd 19 (which i'm not convinced he will be) he'd still be fairly underdone match-fitness wise, we have always struggled to have a good match-up on Ottens.

Carlton will be in the top 4 going into the game against Geelong.

No reason why Carlton can't finish 14-8 which should be good for at least 5th.

I won't back away from my pre-season prediction that we will beat Geelong.
I said then that I can't see us getting around St.Kilda but we can unsettle the Cats at the MCG.

Looking forward to being there with the other 75,000.

p.s. 42,000 turn out on the weekend was fantastic :thumbsu:

Harkster, I changed seats every quarter just to boost the numbers. Clever or what? :thumbsu:

Thy, that would largely depend on whether you paid for four tickets or not :D

Who would have predicted 42.000 for a Swans game at Etihad?
Another lazy 80,000 on Saturday (weather permitting)
I am extremely pleased for CFC for the turnouts to date.

Who knows, we may even have enough in reserve to pay Stevens out at the end of the year :D

You mean Friday night ;)

Of course we would enough money to pay out Stevens, but what's the point, his money and spot on the list would still come out of next year's salary cap, and we would be a player short/down for next year.

Anyhow who thinks Carlton should get rid of Stevens at the end of the year, is a peanut, who has no idea how the salary cap/list management works. (not saying you are btw Harker, I'm sure your post was tongue in cheek :D)
