It's just easy to pay most things by pay wave. Change without change is good. :)

Petty by OTR though wasn't like she was paying for $50 fuel in coins.

They were obviously prepared for it, so you'd think it's an issue of some degree to them. They're in the business of accepting money for goods, going full throttle against that over 20 x $0.50 would be pretty strange.

Just chatting about OTR strict enforcement of the 1965 Currency Act among workmates.

It is for a practical reason. Also a reason for most businesses embracing card payments for small amounts now.

Appparantly coins are the most expensive method of payment for retailers. Security firms charge more to bank them than notes.

Therefore retailers like OTR have decided to minimize the use of coin payments as much as possible.

Medium to large businesses, yes ......small business, absolutely not ...that change away from cash is being driven by the customer

Even now, most parking meters are paid via app's .....people are simply not carrying coins, and are often caught out at parking meters

The most i carry in my wallet is $40 .....no coins, they go into my car coin box .....but even then, there might be $4 at most ....that doesn't cover an hours parking meter

There are also a group of people that use every bit of change to pay for essentials ie milk and bread in the last days before receiving their income support payment

Yeah I was thinking medium to large over small businesses.

OTR would fit that medium category.

Eliminating the cost of banking and counting coins across their network of stores in Adelaide would be a fair cost saving.

They are the ones that have month left over at the end of the money.

Pretty stupid you can hand over 100 x 5c coins but no more than 10 x 50 cents. As for a 1965 law, decimal currency didn’t exist before 1966. Stick that up ya arse OTR.

Ooh spotted

I wonder if that is a challenge point

There is a CRUSHING lack of an apostrophe and his trusty sidekick s in the title.

Is that also change for change's sake?

Grammar is not my friend. :)
