My thoughts on the below: Joe seems to have moved away from his sideway set shot kick in favor of the straight run up. McStay has improved his kicking out of sight (we'll ignore his last kick for goal) and Joe has improved as well. Not sure who has taken over the goal kicking training but is is definitely on the improve.

7. Big Joe can kick clutch set shots
For seemingly forever, Joe Daniher has had his both set shot routine and accuracy questioned. Against the Eagles he went part of the way to quietening that criticism, kicking two important set shots when Brisbane needed them most. On the stroke of the three-quarter time siren Daniher flushed one from 35m on a difficult angle, and then with goals desperately needed in the final quarter, his 45m arrow breathed life into the Lions' quest for the top four. Daniher will get plenty more chances in the finals to test himself under pressure and this was a huge step in the right direction. - Michael Whiting

Jed Adcock has got goal kicking coaching down to a fine art.

So if you are a resident of Greater Brisbane or the whole of Victoria ,SA will not allow you to attend any Covid planned event greater than 1000 even after a Covid test and self quarantine until the test is negative. That seems to rule out the football completely. I hope we find some friendly South Australians to barrack for us. Maybe the Club could issue Lion for a day honorary memberships to Crow eaters[emoji16]

I really hope we flick Birchell- there is nothing he does that makes up for his deficiencies. The elite kick thing is a myth. On another note who was the poster that was as continuously banging on about dropping Daniher.? Obviously feeling very stupid but wondering what the thoughts are now????? We all get things wrong but sheesh what an horrendous agenda that was.

That’s strange because as a Qld resident and member of the Lions I have just been sent an email from the club for the purchase of tickets for this weekends game, with a code and everything.

For the purpose of passing it on to someone in SA that would want a ticket into the game. Club knows what they're doing ;)

Did they just put in your barcode as your code or is it an actual code to get however many tickets you want?

That would be great, if they mentioned that in the email.😲

For us to win personally I think we need to sort out our backline. We have been pretty poor there at different times this year including last round.

Dealing with the outs first. If we are looking at form then Gardner comes out. He has just returned from injury and has been poor both games. If you are picking on form then both Adams and Lester play over him. Sure he is capable of being a very strong defender but he has not shown that in his two games so far.

Lots of talk about Birchall going out and I can certainly see the reasoning there most particularly defensively where he has been ordinary. I think there is a misconception that he is in there for elite kicking skills. Personally I think he is there as a player who can get open when the pressure is on the backline and takes pressure off Rich when he is getting attention. He is the other experienced head who can get the ball and move it forward. Are we still in need of that and does it override his deficiencies? I would not but I think Fages plays him, but if we lose all bets are off.

Coleman has gotten a lot of love on here and he was pretty good this week. He still did look a bit out of place at times I thought last game from simply not having much experience at the back. Solid going forward which is a good thing going forward. Going into a high pressure final though I would be tempted to drop him.

Prior was a bit more low key than Coleman but I thought more solid with his defensive positioning. He also got a nice 14 (from memory) disposals to keep things moving forward. 50/50 call for me who to drop out of Coleman and Prior. I think Fagan drops one though.

Lester has been solid again this year but has benefited a bit from all the injuries we have had. His defensive positioning is great but he does lack pace which makes things difficult with Birchall in there as well. Gardner has a bit more height and pace (not that much really but probably enough) and that might get Gardner the run despite Lester actually playing better than Gardner in both the last two games.

Cockatoo is a very interesting one. I was very impressed with his first quarter on the weekend. His physicality really added to the team dynamic and impacted the game. He disappeared after that though and seemed to lack the fitness to run out the game. For that reason if I was the coach I would not be that keen to pick him for a final. He is improving but he is not match fit.

Fullarton is getting a bit of a mention as someone who might make way. He has shown glimpses of being useful but nothing really more than that and he has not really made a case for retention. If Smith came in for him we are not really giving up much around the ground and we are adding someone more likely to neutralise one of the Demon's main strengths. Personally I had not really been considering Smith coming in for Fullarton but on reflection it makes sense due to Fullarton not really giving us much anywhere.

On the ins

Andrews and Robinson come in. Not up for discussion.

Madden I think improves us defensively. His pace and strength are both excellent and he papers over a lot of cracks. Offensively we lose out but if we are looking to shore up a leaky defense he is one I would want in there.

Archie as I mentioned above is a chance. He is a very big unit who has probably put on a bit too much bulk. He will make the Demons rucks work though and win his fair share of taps which I doubt Fullarton would do. Some chance of getting a game.

If I was making the changes it would be:

Ins - Andrews, Robinson, Madden
Outs - Gardner, Birchall, Prior

Lester struggled on Waterman and Vardy. Gardiner struggled on Darling. Starcevich struggled on Ryan.

It wasn't a good day for the defence.

It is way easier to send an email to all members than pick and choose who may or may not be able to attend the game

I didn’t realise that Ah Chee is 7-0 for goals this year - 100% accuracy. Second to Bailey Dale who is 9-0.

Hey mods - this is a great idea. Are we allowed / should we create a thread on another club board offering our membership numbers for locals to buy tickets?

It's the sort of thing I normally jump into then two days later think about, and work out why it was a bad idea.

I've been sent emails for the purchase of tickets to both the Lions and GWS games.

I think they're all leaving it up to the recipients to figure out whether they can attend or not.
