He is though, less impact. We got rid of Butcher and brought in a lesser player.

Butcher won't kick 50 goals in the SANFL this year, let alone 80. But I generally agree. Eddy looks like a bust at this point. He was brought in as back up though, but got a start after a 5 goal game in the JLT.

Pittard should be a certainty, and probably for Amon.

I would like to see Arch get a game instead of either of Atley or Drew ( who aren't ready yet ), if ever there has been a victim of Kern's last in, first out selection policy, its been him.

Other changes will depend on injury/suspension, but as desperate as we are for some extra height in the backline Austin simply doesn't deserve a call up after his absolute Barry Crocker on Friday night.
One can only wonder what Cameron and co could do to him. :(

Ryder incident, not much in it. Reacted and swung a loose elbow that connected with Knight, who went down like he was shot and lay there like he was dead. That was until the 'pire handed him the free kick and a shot at goal, then he was right as rain.
Yeah not much in that but off the ball - Lewis got done for it so will Paddy. Poor discipline by him and will hurt the team. Opposition midfield will be lining up for Lobbe's taps - then again maybe it will be just what he needs?? We'll have them later in the year, they are a pretty decent team.

A bust already?
**** I hate this board sometimes

Jury is out on Eddy.

There's no doubt that he hasn't yet responded well enough to the intensity of the rounds 1 and 3 games, but it's hard to get over the fact that he is starting on the bench and playing so little game time.

He had one awful kick yesterday, got outmarked point blank a couple of times - one bad one by Talia late, and managed to muff a mark in the square in part because of Impey's characteristic stupidness.

He does some other things well and kind of holds his own in contested ground level situations.

We don't have a better option at the moment. Trengove needs to stay back until Hombsch returns and/or Austin finds form. Marshall and Howard aren't ready. Monfries is injured. Young's form is on the wane a bit. Wingard is playing like he still thinks it's an even year.

not alot in that - very hard to see what exactly hit knight as well.

Agree in part but Tommy lacks a bit of body strength and height to match up on the big key forwards.
Kinda important when you play on big key forwards, I find Clurey pretty nondescript

It's funny the number of melts when Eddy was dropped after round 1, then 2 rounds later and he's a bust. The ball didn't get in our forward line for a quarter, he spends fair chunks of time on the bench then has to lead the forward line when Dixon goes in the ruck. Everyone seems to agree our F50 entries were less than precise.

Maybe he makes way for Atley or Ah Chee who can both kick goals and add more contested grunt around the ground but it's a bit of a bi-polar response going on.

Clurey is still very raw and inexperienced. He does let forwards lead him to the ball too much and he needs more size. But there's enough there to work with and he has to stay in. I mean really, he had goals kicked on him by Franklin and Walker? There's a reason why these guys are consistent league goal kickers.

He's 27 and has been playing against men for years. He's not some kid. A good comparison would be Podsiadly at Geelong, who came in and had the instant impact he was brought in for.
Pod is the absolute best case scenario with that type of a gamble though, early days I still think Eddy will be useful.

Oh Dear!
that is damning. What a goose act. Hope the MRP has a night off!
The only thing definitive is that he gives him a decent shove in the back.

The "evidence" for contact to the jaw is Knight's reaction which could have been to milk it for all it's worth. Ricciutto's carry on was appalling.

In - OG two-dads, really think we missed his run and carry last night, definitely needing a bit more creativity /chaos factor coming out of defense

Out - King Karlos, has his moments, definitely not as cool on him as I have been in the past but was virtually unsighted last night apart from being caught HTB in the middle. Still lacks awareness, definitely not a lost cause though

It's starting to feel a bit 2016ish with the drop this one bring in the other one talk :(

I was was sharing those some worries in the 2nd quarter, crumbled under pressure and went missing.

Time to step up and beat the giants next week and prove where not the 15/16 side again.

regardless of the loss, even with us stopping in the middle, with the poor uprising we should have worn regardless. Hopefully we don't loose Ryder next week, couple of slight changes… Pittard and Atley for me. We should be every chance against the Giants next week. Win that and that makes up for this week. Loose that and its very disappointing going from our Wn against Sydney and Demolition of Freo. 2-2 after our first two is poor, want to be 3-1 going into the carlton game and 4-1 going out of it.

With Hombsch out injured, if Ryder misses then Trengove needs to stay in defence unless Austin is ready to go which is doubtful given his game against the bays. Could be a perfect storm for Lobbe to get an AFL game.

That's fair enough, but I wasn't one of those who melted when he was dropped for round 2.

If Ryder gets games on the evidence at hand it's an absolute stitch up.

Only change i see is Pittard coming in. There are some serious knee jerk reactions in here to day after the loss to the silly people.Thought we defended a bit soft last night. Pittard does that hard defending role very well.
Defending a bit soft is 100% spot on. Totally lacked mongrel. Very reactive defence. It's like they believe the hype about the crows having the best forward line. Make them earn every mark. Walker killed us physically and when is someone going to legally hurt Betts

Amazing what a difference one week makes. Last week we were wondering who we could possibly leave out for Pittard and Hartlett to return, now half the team is back on the chopping block.

I'd be looking at bringing in Pittard and White. Experienced heads and elite runners, both things we seemed a little light on for at times last night.

I love his effort but Sam Gray has to be in the gun.
