Macca was spot on with his Ryder rant on the podcast. We really needed him this week.

Amazing that since the tremendous performance of round 1, we have lost Hombsch, Eddy and Ryder from this week's team. They are replaced with Impey, Pittard and White.
We really don't play to a remotely consistent structure, and that worries me greatly.

As it stands, we will go in very under-sized. One injury to any of our taller players will make the situation even more dire.
Our talls are Dixon who is the only beast. Trengove, who will be horribly undersized in ruck. Westhoff who hasn't played like a tall player all year. Clurey and Jonas who are short tall defenders anyway.

It's hard not to be perplexed, while at the same time lamenting the lack of form and/or availability of the talls we have in reserve.

I don't think Eddy's omission is acceptable to be honest.
I would have taken a punt on Austin.

Austin showed promising signs last year. Did some good jobs competing against the bigger tall forwards. By reports he had a bad game last week but the kid will come good and eventually force his way back into the side.

That's fine and all, but it's not okay to have a bloke who played 5 games for Richmond in 3 seasons and kicked a grand total of 1 goal dominate you. Austin let McBean have 8 marks and kick 6 goals on him. He will have to take Brady Dawe to the cleaners tomorrow night to even come into consideration.

Patton's blown his knee out twice and is still more than competent for his age and experience.

His game against North Melbourne last year made me think he could make it as an AFL defender. Kept Waite to 2 points.

He's still a kid so I'm expecting his performances to be a bit up and down. I still think he has something to offer down back.

I think it is best to not play players who are not ready for AFL - whether that be form, skill, size, recovering from injury.

When you look to the future- Doogs, Marshall, Ollie, Spp, wingard, impey, Polec, DBJ, frampton, Austin, clurey, bonner, Houston, atley etc. we will have a decent spine, and runners.

But those not quite ready for AFL need to develop properly...

Hoping it won't be the same as the disaster a couple of years ago when Hinkley brought in Jarrad Redden who was no where near fit let alone match fit.
