Out: O'Bree, L.Brown, McCaffer
In: Dawes, Anthony, Shaw

We clearly needed a big man crashing the packs tonight, although cloke is big he drifts around the 50m parameter and doesn't play a big man game crashing the packs....

Time for Dawes!!! We have a fairly decent small forward line, it's time to blood a big forward while we have the smalls capable of kicking goals.... Clearly our forward line is our weak link at the moment!

L.Brown was a physical presence but that's it, and it's really not good enough... we need to blood our kids.

McCaffer I didn't think looked upto it, lost a times, slow decision making.... I love the Caff and think he will be a serviceable player however I guess he is just unlucky to come back into the side against a high pressuring side like St.Kilda.

O'Bree - Not sure of his role, barely noticeable tonight, Ball has clearly taken his role, solid depth player.

Lucky to keep their spot but will get another chance, McCarthy, Tooves,

I love Tooves defensive pressure but it's his skills that let him down, i think when goldsack is fit he should take his place! Goldsack can provide the defensive pressure with good run and skills out of the backline.

Another note: Lockyer looked lost in the backline, I much prefer him in the forward line as a sneaky forward pocket. Heater was missed tonight!

McCarthy might have played the worst game since Danny Nichols.

Wow!!
I thought he was quite good.
Just shows the difference in watching at the game and watching at home :p

out: McCarthy Brown Fraser Macaffer

in: Anthony, Rusling Shaw Goldsack

rusling has got to get a go, i still remember my excitement when he burst out of the goal square in 07, i want to feel that rather than guessing which side of the goals cloke is going to kick it out on the full

Dare I say that we are missing Cameron Wood a lot? And Brad Dick.

Out: McCarthy, L. Brown (will probably go for his hit on Riewoldt anyway), Medhurst, Fraser + someone else

In: Shaw, N. Brown, Goldsack, Anthony, Dawes

I can't definitively say who should be in and out till I see the VFL tomorrow, so I'll state the players in "danger";

* Leigh Brown
* Brent MaCaffer
* Alan Toovey
* Leon Davis (not fit)
* Tarkyn Lockyer (can not play defensively past centre)
* John MaCarthy

I know some will "go nuts" over some of those names, but they are the players in danger for me.

Josh Fraser would be added to that list if Cameron Wood was available.

im sick and tied off the pathetic efforts from toovey ,cost us goals ,l.brown ,obrie ,lockyerand fraser ,time has come for these guys to be dropped period bloody hopeless,rather reaid and brown in let our future play some games ,sick off u malthouse piss off ffs ,bring in goldsack,anthony,reid, play n.brown at chf cant be any worse than that muppet l. brown , well done to the younger guys esp wellingham ,

Malthouse isn't the one kicking for goal. Why blame him for the players performance? You'll be singing a different tune when we beat a team in the near future, ala' the bulldogs match 2 weeks ago.

the only sensible comment i have seen amongst the post match crap i have been sifting through on here. if we kick straight tonight we win by at least 4 goals and we are talking it up nad malthouse is a genius for the way he managed to shut down the saints

poor goal kicking was what cost the pies tonight, not poor game plans or players shirking it or recruits not living up to the wraps. how can anyone criticise malthouse? the plan kept st kilda to 4 1st half goals and 10 in total what more do we want from that aspect? had the forwards kicked straight we would have kicked at least 12-13 goals against the best defence in the comp and won the game. i just want to see a decent goal kicking coach at the club because week in week out it is costing us

Josh Fraser would be added to that list if Cameron Wood was available.
Why does Wood have to be available?

We have a whole list of players who can get killed in the ruck and all over the ground. One of them can replace Fraser.

We might as well put Jarryd Blair in the ruck instead of Fraser. At least then the opposition ruckman might be laughing too hard to get a proper tap.

Out - O'Bree McCarthy Lockyer

O'Bree and Lockyer went missing and on the rare occasion they got the ball panicked and turned it over.
McCarthy just a little slow when getting rid of the ball.

Love to see Rusling Dawes and Goldsack in the side

McCarth Macaffer Toovey all fumbled tonight and looked second rate. I would give Medders 1 more week but he is on the chopping block. Nice to see Ball is not mentioned as he was one of our better players on the night.

Ins : Dawes, Rusling, Blair, Blight/Shaw (if fit)

Out : Brown, O'Bree, Lockyer, McCarthy,

Ball and O'Bree in the same side dosen't work. O'Bree isn't a impact player, Blair has been impressive in the pre season, needs to play. Time to play some youth, would even consider brining in Sinclair this week.

Out: McCarthy, Fraser
In: Heafy, Dawes

Anthony needs to assert himself at VFL level and demand a spot. Fraser isn't doing anywhere near enough as a forward and we'd be better served having a true forward, instead of some shitty hybrid forward/ruck.
McCarthy was horrible and is a clear MM favourite. Needs to stop being gifted games on the back of isolated performances in the twos. I'm not smitten like others on these boards. Caff was far more composed and steady than McCarthy tonight, he hit targets which was music to my ears.

Lockyer and O'Bree need to be put on notice now. O"Bree is starting to steal minutes off Beams and I'm pretty ambivalent about it. Need to sit and stew on it.

I know that the Saints backline, apart from Dawson, is bloody impressive but surely you would be hoping to add a bit of grunt to your forward line. Would MM consider delivering a Dal Santo rocket to a couple who were embarrassing again :confused:

I personally thought that , barring the atrocious accuracy, we played really well until 3/4 time.

We played with the "mongrel" we need to if we are to challenge the Saints and Hawks later in the year.

If we had kicked half those points we'd all be downing the 8 year old scotch and having a good old laugh.

Goal Kicking is the only real concern from a match against the benchmark side right now in round 3.

Plenty will and are venting, giving every player a roast, but I'm sure they were not at half time.

Go Pies.:thumbsu:

A loss but another step.

Its time malthouse realises that his love childs TERRIBLE TOOVEY, MR FIX IT LEROY BROWN Mr fix it my a**, lockyer, o'bree and Fairy Fraser either go missing or continuously turn the ball over in pressure games. We will never win a premiership with these players , its time to give players like Dawes,Reid, Brown and Blight a go and leave them in.... but unfortunately this will not happen under Mr know all Malthouse.

fwiw:

IN: Anthony, Shaw, ???
OUT: Brown, McCarthy, O'Bree

O'Bree, Ball and Pendelbury are all inside mids, and cannot play in the same side. Prefer to have a runner come in for O'Bree, but not sure we really have any options. We could, of course, keep J-Mac in and hope he rebounds.

Thats about right I think.

I'd like to see Blight added as the extra player.

Fraser out for Dawes would be another consideration.

How about we dont creep around the boundary line and let a few players run forward of the ball so we have someone to kick it to when we do go
forward.
