At the the risk of channeling Robert Walls but given Moores indifferent form this year I would be suggesting.........

"Give him a run in the ruck"
Form?

He's played one game, against the reigning premiers... you can draw an infinite number of lines of best fit through a single data point.

Im not Goldsacks biggest fan but you can point out plenty of times when pendles was caught walking and casual jogging back to defend too.

There were also times like the one Kingy pointed out where Goldsack was 3v1. How the hell are they supposed to hold their "shape" and at the same time man stringer and co who often waited behind our zone ready for the eventual turn over.

I will say it again King is full of s...t.

Why didn't he show you the full vision of that play?? That's right it doesn't suit his agenda.

As for highlighting Pendles "jogging" in one highlight reel.............please spare me!

You back King all you like.........I was at the game I know what I saw!

Like you said before bring on the Tigers!

But its not Blair v Daicos. Its Blair v Daicos v Broomhead v Aish v Elliot v 3-4 other injured players, De Goey Wills Wells Crocker, etc .

Besides, there was nothing wrong per se with Blairs output....his intensity and ability to win the ball was first rate....it was execution. Would a lower output but higher skill from a zero gamer Daicos improve the side compared to Blair? Maybe not at this point.

Again with the superfluous wording, first rate ball winners are not low to mid teens. They are 25-35 possies a game types.

He is C grade player at winning the ball and that's if you are generous. Plenty of 18 year olds could come in and replicate Blairs numbers.

This is the only club in the comp where we make our returning stars jump through 700million hurdles to play a game of football.

If this were a Hawthorn or a Sydney- Elliott would be playing this week.

I'm prepared to be cautious with our injured players but we always talk up "training blocks" like no other for players to prove their "fitness".

Mayne would be more useful with Cox out of the side. He was a bit superfflous with the forward line already to otall.

I have to agree. I can be swayed in a White v Cox argument either way. That said three bigs with Mayne in the side is one I can't ever see working against the better teams.

I should probably add that my view is more based around the structure rather than individuals. Teams are moving away from tall forwards towards nippy smalls that offer defense AND offense at ground level. Unfortunately we aren't adjusting quick enough, IMO.

What full vision? Crameri is standing within 5m of both Adams and Pendlebury when the Dogs have the ball on the wing. Crameri sprints toward the Dogs 50 while Adams and Pendlebury jog. You can clearly see Goldsack is left in a 3v1 and Crameri ends up kicking the goal. It was great footage and shows how lazy the midfield are when asked to chase.

If the midfield is going to be that lazy, then the forward line have to put on a lot more pressure up the ground. I'd reason that is why guys like Mayne and Blair played on Friday night. Or efficiency going inside 50 needs to improve to avoid getting hurt on transition.

How many games did Johannisen miss for the Dogs last year to come straight back in and kick the winning goal against Sydney???

Just play Elliott!!

What was Pendles doing the play before??

Post the vision if you can please to prove how lazy our midfield and in particular Pendles really is.

I think Sidebottom and Pendlebury in particular could never really be called lazy when it comes to running both ways. As you alluded to, if Pendlebury was jogging back, he was probably spent from previous plays and not being lazy. Treloar on the other hand is a bit lazy running back.... although if he turns it over he is very quick to try to make amends going the other way.

I agree.
Unless he cannot physically take his spot then he should play.

It's laughable at how much "training" our guys must do to be selected to play. Other clubs' stars waltz in almost as easy as we concede goals out the back whilst having to work our asses off to score.

Daicos, Kirby and Shaz are nowhere near ready, sounds like Billy is a couple away.

Broomy and Aish should come in for Cox and Blair.
White to give Grundy a chop out in the ruck, Grundy can rest up forward.

We have other small options to play on smaller players . And Dunn can also play forward arguably better than Goldsack can.

Not sure exactly what the right mix is but I wouldn't rule out Dunn Reid and Schade in the same 22 at times. Even if not every week

We do?

Agree but who comes in for Varcoe?

Given that it's likely to be wet on Thursday, absolutely zero chance of Blair being dropped.

I'd be shocked if it were anything other than.

OUT: Varcoe, Cox (if wet)
IN: Aish, Broomhead
Yep, I think this is about right.

Name Cox in the 22 tomorrow night, but if by 5-6pm Thursday night it's wet and slippery, bring in whichever one of Broomy/Aish wasn't named in the initial side.

Keeffe isn't ready for senior footy and Dunn is absolute pure backup for when we face off against a tall forward line (could come in against the Swans).

My guess is the one compulsory change. Aish for Varoce. Cox won't get dropped. We don't have another ruckman - White can't ruck. We don;t have another tall forward so even if White did ruck while Grundy was off the ground Moore would be the only tall forward. I'm not against droping Blair but I think he'll survive. Wwithout VFL it's hard for anyone who didn't play much JLT to push into the side and I hope we don't rush Elliot back into the 1s.

Blair was a star for the dogs on Friday. Daicos would just have to not touch the ball or influence the contest in any way and he'd be an upgrade.

Here is where they are when Adams kicks the ball inside 50 which results in a turnover.

Dogs bring the ball up the wing and you see Crameri with neither Adams or Pendlebury within sight.

Crameri ends up kicking the goal with only Ramsay bothering to chase.
