Anybody think Reid might be in trouble for eye gouging?

I know it hasn't had the focus in the way the Varcoe one was, but it certainly didn't look good.
Highly doubt it.
In normal speed, looks pure bad luck.
In slow motion so many things can look worse, that was one of them

Out: Grundy, Blair, Varcoe (Susp)
In: Elliott, Aish,Broomhead

Cox and White to ruck, Grundy needs to take a look at himself
You may have missed the ruck dominance.
Grundy was very very good.

Cox had 21.

Grundy was rucking against Boyd and Trav, this should have been a game when he monstered the opposition.
Now Witts is gone Grundy will be thinking his slot is not under threat.
He was ok yesterday, his tackling is good but he needs to bring more
So you drop him? I've seen crazy on here but this is next level.

Out: Blair, Varcoe (susp)
In: Aish, Broomhead.

We'll have to continue with the Cox experiment, I'd say. Give it another 2 weeks or so. There's no chance of Elliot coming in. He's played one half of a game in 18 months. The problem with Broomhead is that he too hasn't had enough game time -- and why didn't he play at least a half of VFL?

Buckley mentioned after the Bulldogs game that from mid way in the second quarter they started rotating talls off the bench

Checking the gametime stats:

Cox: 69%
Grundy: 75%
Goldsack: 75%
Shade: 85%
Moore: 83%
White: 85%

These seem to confirm it, pretty sure these players would typically be expected to play more gametime than that? They probably took rotations off our mids, so our mids would have been more stuffed.

Does this imply that we got selection wrong last week? Against the Bulldogs in particular? (they're one of the more mobile sides ... surely we should have seen that coming?) Or in general? (Maybe we drop a tall this week?)

Elliot comes in for me. We need to win this game. Elliot somewhat underdone is 10x better than anyone else we could bring in TBH.
I think with Jamie if he gets through 2 training sessions he plays. Whenever that is.

Guessing we train Monday and Wednesday this week, so we should know tomorrow if he's any chance at all.

If he's not ready, and Broomhead isn't ready either, is Kirby a realistic chance?

Probably not but you have to get excited about the KK man. (Just don't add an extra K to that).

I'd like Dunn in but don't know who to drop.
Cox is one I would look at dropping but with Richmond talls needs to stay in.
Elliott or Broomhead if fit for Mayne would be the other change.

Hoping Varcoe gets off with a reprimand or fine.

Can't play against RIchmond then surely?

Hardly spotted in the pre season and didn't play at all last weekend.
Could he play a sweeping role forward?

Did Broomhead even play in the VFL?

Haven't seen him mentioned in any reports. If he didn't he can't come into the seniors this week off the back of no match practice at all.

Broomhead did NOT play in the VFL mattys123

On Friday night I really liked the way we switched play from a mark on one side of the wing via the open defence to the exact same position on the opposite side of the ground only to get stuck. It was great watching that, not!

I really hope we change that against Richmond and just send the ball in to give our forwards a chance.

Our press was too high on the dogs many times too. It left no targets up forward too many times so they were out of position running back or our kicks were 10m off (see Varcoe to cox all by himself in the 50). We all need to be better by foot. Can't count on Pendlebury and some bloke in rehab

Elliott or Broomhead over Mayne and not Blair..........were we watching the same game Maggie?

I was in M17, row L. Good spot, close to the action and watched Mayne a fair bit until was getting angry.
For a player with 173 games, was very good at directing team mates.

I sit second level "Blair end" in the first quarter...............watched Blair closely..........cost us four goals.

Based on that performance he is a coach killer.
