I'm gonna take shoties of grapa everytime Blair touches the pill tommorrow night to ease the pain.
The only way to watch Blair in non-action is to anaesthetise yourself against reality. A shot of smack, a valium overdose, a bottle of whisky, perhaps your first taste of ice - any of these might ease the sight of watching Blair play yet another night. And you won't care if we win, lose or draw. If ever you felt like living life to excess, Thursday provides the perfect opportunity to satisfy that craving.

I don't know why we recruit so many poor to medium skilled players but we always seem to suffer from poor disposal.

Drives me nuts, every draft night, Hines wheels out the line " project player with scope to improve" WTF draft players that can ******* play Now, The basic's of footy should of been there from junior footy, the only developing should be physical and game planning, not the fundamentals of footy like kicking a ******* footy. hopefully guys like Daicos and Brown will improve Hines strike rate, but then again its a free shot with those guys. Seriously the pies would be contenders with Adelaide's half back line. Hine has been asleep at the wheel for a while now, and judging from the last years public review he's days at the pies are coming to an end.

Sad reality is that the further down the pecking order you get draft day, the lower the chance you'll have the options of selecting elite ball users, or if they are, they'll have other equally worrisome issues. We've got a nasty habit of trading out of the 1st round. It is what it is.

Hmmm.
Actually.
Blair might of gone ok in 2005/6 at West Coast.

And picking Shaz and Freeman when we dont :(

I don't have an issue in the slightest with Fas picking and choosing when to put in defensively because he's in the side to hit the scoreboard. As rand corp posted he ain't quick so if he busts a nut defending like Blair does he'll simply end up out of position to have an impact in attack.

Scoreboard pressure will always trump physical pressure so until he stops having an impact on the scoreboard he's fine. IMO, the real issue is the emphasis on frontal pressure from those in charge. That was figured out years ago yet we've been glacially slow to adapt.

Exactly, better manage out forward entry or transition from defense and Fas's defensive running, or lack thereof, becomes a moot point.

Stevie Johnson is another one that doesn't need a pre season.. apparently that Petrevski-Seton bloke at Carlton didn't have much of a pre season didn't play 1 JLT game.. yet they threw him in the mix and he did ok.

There are players you just need to throw the coaching/fitness rule book away.. cause you know they just don't need much preparation to play a good quality game.

And exactly what was sort of shape was Petrevski-Seton in when he started preseason?

I would have preferred that Cox remain in the side to Blair playing again.

I like the potential of Cox but not sure whether all of Grundy, Cox, Moore and White works. At the moment I have White in front of Cox on impact on games. But if they had of retained Cox I would not have complained and would have watched with interest to see how it turned out.

I can't disagree too much with team selection this week. I'd have dropped White over Cox but it's line ball and one had to go so not displeased. Aish and Broomhead redress team balance and add some class. Not totally happy with Blair and Mayne remaining in the same forward line however we're not flush with options so I can deal with that.

The one recently that shits me the most, is 2014 draft, pick 30 we get Maynard which I like and will be good, but looking forward you need the 1/2 punch weather its mids or keys 1/2 punch selections work wonders players come through together, Dunstall, Dermie, Lockett, Lowe, Lyold, Lucus so on

Mitch McGovern went pick 43. You would think he has a brother who is beginning to rip it up, he has similar build, similar style FFS why not take the player when he's there to take. McGovern and Moore, now that would been something to get existed at. This is not hindsight I remember watching that draft night, and cursing the TV in disgust.

Hunter S Thompson's favourite book, like mine, is The Great Gatsby. He had a hand written copy stuck to the walls of his house and his novel 'The Rum Diary', written over many years, was modelled on the structure and style of TGG. It's a great read. So much of his writing was about the death of the American Dream - like TGG. Hunter's style is that of someone who 'often make themselves ugly to expose the ugliness around them'. Love the guy. :thumbsu:

White was easily our best tall forward last week.

Why would you drop him?

Sacrificing 1 in 6 positions up forward.. for someone to harass and tackle.. does not guarantee a goal anyhow!

The ball going in there.. having a bloke crumb/mark and kick the IGA salami is what it is about.

Make things easier for ya Kappa..

If we had 10 brilliant forwards for eg.. do we have to sacrafice 5 of em.. for a harrasing/tackling specialist. For the most part.. a good goal kicking forward does that anyhow.

Watched the Crows v GWS and players like Bets and Cameron offer both, offensive impact and defensive pressure. Elliott does the same, Fas and Blair tend to be polar opposites on that spectrum but clearly the two aspects aren't mutually exclusive. While Kirby projects as a more balanced contributor in the Cameron mould, throwing him to the wolves before he's able to contribute 4 quarters does nobody any good.
