Khawaja made a ton. The more I think about it, the more I reckon we'll go with something like:

Khawaja
Warner
Smith
Handscomb
Patterson
White
Agar
Nevill
Starc
Hazlewood
Bird
I actually like this team.

Problem is that Agar is injured, which is why this won't happen in the immediate future.

I don't think they'll pick him straight off an injury tbh.
If it's as minor as his is, the likelihood of it being re-injured is very low.

I'd be surprised if we went for Cameron White. Even more so because Greg Chappel's now in the selection fold. Pretty much anyone over the age of 28 is on short leash.

Its amazing that you think of the players over the years who have only played 1 test and they cop a lot of shit on Bigfooty for being duds, yet here we have people saying you can't drop a couple of duds after 1 test, they deserve a good run in the side...
He played 4. They picked him as a spinner didn't bowl him at all and they picked krejza who took 12 wickets.

He wasn't talking about White.

When was the last time Alex Doolan made a century?

I know it's different, but he did have a brilliant run in the Matador as well, and that speaks to his form

I'm all for Doolan getting another crack but I have a clear Tassie bias!

Handscomb surely has a spot sewn up regardless

Fairly sure we will see Warner, Burns, Khawaja, Smith, Ferguson, Handscomb, Nevill, Starc, Hazlewood, Mennie, Lyon.

Burns gets one final chance simply because the most likely opener in Bancroft is in terrible form, and Renshaw and Deam are too raw. If he fails, he might not get a look in for a long time. Either way, SMarsh will take his spot back for the First Test against Pakistan. Ferguson and Mennie won't get dropped after one Test and probably shouldn't; they were picked for a reason and one Test doesn't eliminate all those reasons. It would be very reactionary.

This is why I think Renshaw or Dean are worth a crack. I just cant see Burns keeping his spot and it is a perfect opportunity to try a raw kid.

Is it possible that it isn't the same people going with these opposing views?

Just a thought. I mean there are a lot of people who use the internet these days.

People arent seriously saying white should play ahead of Ferguson? White was on the brink of extinction and ferguson has made runs the past 3 shield seasons, but hey, he got out cheaply in tassie so lets play white instead.

Absolute farcical. Do people have filters?

White's in better form than Ferguson currently and a heap of overs too, so if he's ever going to get another test now is the time. My concerns with White is he's always had technique issues against the swinging ball. If he's overcome this his leadership would be invaluable to the test team, if not the selectors should look elsewhere.

BigFooty when the news comes through that Handscomb isn't selected.

There'd be open revolt on the street, if there's one silver lining in this sorry saga it's shown that people still care about the Test team.

Glad Handscomb forced them to pick him

I have wanted him for a while

Will be the man to break the Vic drought
Vics should know that scoring a double century doesn't guarantee them a game for Australia

One is averaging 125 this season, the other is averaging 21....

You know why we have issues. Because at grassroots level you can't draw matches. Thus kids who go out and crossbat 40 off 20 once a season are celebrated more than kids who make 30 off 100 retired n.o. every game. The game has always been about results which takes away from developing skill and technique and instead more about how you get runs. We've just been fortunate in the past that we got good players who made it through the system. Kids play t20s on Friday nights now instead of 50 overs on a saturday morning.

Really? This doesn't happen here.

Warner
Marsh S
Kuwhaja
Smith
Handscombe
Ferguson
Neville
Agar
Starc
Mennie
Hazelwood

Give Ferguson and Mennie more of a chance. Agar is in good form and can bat well.
