Christ, some of you are harsh.

If Rosa comes in, I'd suggest that Gaff goes out. He'll be a good player but Rosa plays the exact same role and is bigger.

If Kerr comes in, I'd expect McGinnity to go out. We look like a better side with McGinnity in, but he's competing for a spot with Adam and Scott Selwood and neither of them are going to be dropped.

Can't see Ebert or Masten being dropped.

Can't see Rosa coming in without playing a WAFL game... Gaff stays IMO, was probably in our best and actually stuck tackles against bigger bodies like Dawes.

Kerr for McGinnity is about right... and agree it is a shame though, I also thought we looked a lot better with McGinnity on the field.

Ebert is a chance to go out, Masten played well on the weekend and stays best 21.

Rosa is too underdone for me. To go from Reserves to AFL finals intensity is a BIG step up, I don't think it's the risk the match commitee will make, considering how conservative we've been with players like Kerr

Kerr has no excuses. He will be risked now. It's do or die

So

In:Kerr
Out: Ebert/Mcginnity

Mcginnity showed a lot in the sub role against collingwood. Ebert has been coasting these last few weeks. Hasn't shown anything since the Geelong game.

So once again there will be an unlucky player

Only suggested Ebert as I would rather him than McGinnity to go out.

We also need someone for a fwd tag on Yarran. Waters maybe?? I have never liked Nico as a fwd tagger.

Gibbs not looking good, hate being happy when someone is injured

Fair enough to say that Ebert hasn't been in terrific form the last few weeks but the bolded part is either you making stuff up or having a poor memory. Against Richmond Ebert was good getting 21 disposals and kicking 4 goals, definitely showed something.

Someone said earlier about McGinnity going out and I didn't agree with it but now thinking about it, McGinnity seems to be the one who always makes way for an important player.

I think it'll be
IN: Kerr
OUT: McGinnity

I'd give Nicoski the role of tagging Yarran. As many knew before the Collingwood game that the Pies get their drive off the HBF, WC have a chance to learn from that game and implement a tag on Yarran, who's more than capable of chopping WC up with his run and carry and creativity.

Lecca, Ebert and Darling are incapable of going with Yarran. Masten creates, so why waste him in a defensive role. While Shuey may start on a HFF, he, like Masten, should be used more through the midfield in an offensive capacity. That leaves Nicoski for the job.
Waters as a HFF isn't a close checking player, so I wouldn't use him either.

You are right in saying most teams get their drive off the HBF which is why you dont kick it into your forward line 40-45m out from goal.......you need to go deeper which in turn brings in the forward press, somthing we did not do well in the 2 and 3rd quarters against the pie's.....and this was due the pressure and not running the ball deeper .

That, and WC were blindly bombing despite the Pies having a spare man back. In that regard, WC didn't learn from their earlier encounter in the season.

When playing the Pies, the Pies spare man in defense should be manned up. They shouldn't be allowed to clear their D50 uncontested. If they're manned up, there's a chance to halve the contest and get a ball up situation in the F50. From there there's a good chance to create a score given WC's ruck advantage.
The stoppage also gives the Eagles the time to set up the forward press, thus adding further pressure and likelihood of a score.

McGinnity has to play next week because of Betts and Garlett.

Schofield - Walker
Glass - Kreuzer
Mackenzie - O'Hailpin
Butler - Betts
McGinnity - Garlett
Hurn - Simpson

Pretty sure Kruezer won't play, Hampson may come back in as he kicked 6 in the VFL today I think.

So if you consider Walker a tall then Carlton will have the following talls as a maximum number;
Warnock - Ruck
Hamspon - Ruck/Fwd
Thornton - Fwd/Back
Walker - Fwd
O'Halphin - Fwd/Back
Henderson - Back/Fwd
Jamison - Back

Out: ineffectual disposal
In: effectual disposal

That will do it.

From the game against Colliwobble, it killed us.
I was following it on the internet as well as watching a delayed broadcast - continual ineffective kicks into the forward half - it was so bloody frustrating!!
I thought Waters was the worst offender, but not according to stats -
Waters 80% DE / year's ave 74% = so improved
Priddis 54% / 67% = worse than usual
Masten 54%

Those that are often picked on for poor DE
McKenzie 76 / 85
Lynch 87 / 67 = improved against his average DE
Nico 75
McGinnity 83
Schofield 100 = but only had 7 disposals

We'll need to pick up our DE if we are going to beat Carlton - they were very good today, though they didn't have much opposition after quarter time.

if we don't have the balls to drop waters for smith (and/or maintain mcginnity whilst bringing kerr back in) then i doubt we can win. he is too slow to match up on carlton's small forwards, not to mention his constant team deflating clangers.

if cox can't get up then we're in big trouble. doubt lycett would risked for such a big game....?

Walker a tall?

It is likely we will have to cover Cox. Lynch is the only real option I see but who would come in. Hams on the HFF is great kicking inside 50.
Lecras is soft but valuable and out of Embers and Gaff I would give Gaff a game if Rosa is in.

Thoughts please

Coxy will be fine! Hams doesn't get enough of the ball. I doubt Rosa will get a gig unless he played today and got a lot of the ball. From my point of view Kerr comes in & I would drop Waters..shit dosposal although cannot be questioned alsewhere. Playing Carlton ;McGinnity plays on Betts. Glass on Walker, Smith on Garlett, The Selwoods on Judd and Murphy and that's it Carlton gone!! (Don't know who to drop for Smith)

Look I know our current coach left a bitter taste for you guys from '04, but please smash the filth for us ? pwetty pwease ?

-Sincerely the whole Essendon supporter fan base.

No bitterness. WC fans did applaud Sheedy and Hird in 2007 after the round 22 game.

I said it last week, let me repeat myself. Not sure what games some of you people watch. DE of 80% with 2 clangers, in a hotly contested final, that's not too bad. His courage and backing into packs is worth selection every time and he will be selected, so don't even worry thinking about it. :)
