David Hussey has been one of the best batsmen in Shield and County cricket over the last half decade.

Just sayin'.

Where do we start? The Ashes are gone so let's rid ourselves of everyone out of form so we get a chance of tying the series. That's 5-7 changes. That means Ponting, Clarke, Hughes, Siddle, Hilfenhaus. That's 5. as for the other two possible changes I'd tell Johnson he has this Test and practice to get his sh1t together and bowl consistently, as he did in Perth, or he's 12th man. Great when on song, useless when not, so we wait and see. Can have him playing wondering if he'll bowl sh1t. I give that chance because of how well be bowled in Perth. I'll also wait to see how Smith bowls so see if he can bowl spin for us and bat 8, strengthening the batting, or get dropped. don't want him as a number 6.As for Siddle and Hilfenhaus you can't have 2 bloke that have taken 2 wickets between then since the first innings in Brisbane.

Who to bring in? Marsh, Khawaja, D.Hussey, White (as we need a captain), Copeland. Also open to two other changes as suggested above.

If it is between Siddle & Hilfenhaus for the last fast bowler's spot in Sydney, there is no way Hilfenhaus has bowled well enough in this series to edge out Siddle. Even today Siddle has bowled better than Hilfenhaus, who seems to have the support of someone in high places (I wonder if any photos are involved), as that is the only way he could have been considered ahead of Siddle prior to the start of this Test.

Not point playing either. Wickets between them since the first innings of the series. Enough chances. Gone!

1. Watson
2. Katich
3. Ponting (last game as captain (at least))
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Khawaja
7. Haddin
8. Hauritz/O'Keefe
9. Johnson
10. Harris
11. tall bouncey pace bowler

you see the thing is the world doesnt work like that, this is test cricket, in terms of wholesale changes, the most change 1 team (in the top 6 cricket nations) would make is 2! case in point, when australia lost the series to south africa and they brought in andrew mcdonald and doug bollinger

its people like you who have visions that the afl can expand into places like mt isa, wollongong, gosford or newcastle

get out of your dreamworld and back to friggin reality!

I'm tipping the post has a touch of sarcasm so I'll laugh along with it.

Depends how much we like losing. Not saying what will happen unfortunately, just what I'd like to see happen. Surely no-one disagrees.

Time to back in time and do it as we did years ago when we dumped Bill Lawry, who was captain and many others for that final Test. It was a massive shock at the time but that lot of changes set us up for years. It's obvious this side isn't taking us anywhere. We have a top order that can't make runs, barely to 40 before the loss of 4 wickets, two bowlers with 2 wickets between them in a million innings, another who doesn't know if he's a matchwinner or a pie-chucker, and a leg spinner we bat at no.6.

There needs to be changes from top to bottom. A review of Australian Cricket from top to bottom needs to be completed. I would get Rodney Marsh to do it, but I think they pissed him off too.

Ponting playing 4 quicks in this test match seems out of spite of the selectors picking Beer in the first place. The way we are playing is a joke and some of the selections are a joke and the stench comes from the top.

Ponting will play in Sydney regardless. Could well be his final test.

He deserves the respect to finish the series as captain and number 3.

After that selectors can tell him to retire.

I'm sad to say it, but I think he's finished. The last of the great era.

if i may: i'll have a potshot at the victorian public for going to the game

80000+ people at the mcg today, whats the bloody point? it just seems implausible to me that what the world thinks these days: "bigger is better"

how many of those people are actually connected to ANY of the players on the field out there?

the response of 'yeh, i know, isnt it effing great?" means nothing to me

the families who went to the mcg, with their families and kids, the kids having no idea whats going on, other than being told to "hate england"

by day 4 there would be less than 5000 true cricket purists at the game

but thats melbourne, everything is "oh so big!" and "oh so fake"

Don't think ponting deserves the sydney test.

he's made some awful and baffling choices as captain recently and twice he's declared himself fit in the last year when he's obviously injured.

he's flatly refused to reign in his game or drop down the order, look the bloke has big brass balls i never denied that but he's as pig headed as he is tough and it's time for him to go.

He can have no complaints he's rolled the dice one too many times and his number didn't come up.

Mate, this post is a pile of fertilizer.

I honestly have no idea if you are the world's greatest troll or you truly believe the stuff you type.

It is just 1 big wtf experience. In any event it is in no way relevant to this thread.

I know the rumor has been put to bed. But IF in the 1 in 1000 shot we can force a draw to batting out, earthquake, tsunami, or rain does Warne consider a come back?

What is he going to do with the ball when your side is 5 for 50 every test?
