For Australia Ahmed in for Siddle and Burd for Pattinson.

Windies Dowrich in for Samuels and Bishoo for Roach.

Think both sides have interesting decions. Love to hear thoughts on changes for the Windies as well as us.

Luve Burd. Given O'Keefe is in the squad not sure how Ahmed would get a game.

Pretty straightforward team for me...

David Warner
Immortan Joe
Usman Khawaja
Steve Smith (c)
Adam Voges
Mitch Marsh
Peter Nevill (+)
Steve O'Keefe
James Pattinson
Josh Hazlewood

Despite his four wickets Marsh is simply not good enough to be in the side at the moment.
Hasn't been dismissed in the series yet, starved of chances. Ridiculous idea to drop him given he will be our third seamer in Sydney.

Talk of resting Hazlewood? Siddle was poor/injured after day 2. Okeefe should come in.

Man they've been talking about resting Hazlewood all summer.

But he hasn't even bowled all that much.

If we are indeed going in with a three man pace attack then surely Hazlewood is in? There is something wrong with the idea of a Pattinson/Boland/Marsh pace attack in a test match

Rest him from the ODIs if he so desperately needs a rest

I want Hazlewood to play mainly because I really don't want Boland to be getting a Baggy Green haha. Vindictive? Perhaps. But gosh darn it him getting one ahead of the likes of Dorff (injuries and all) would annoy the hell out of me.

I also dislike the idea of resting a bloke for a test in their home state.

Like seriously.

An article I just read (may have been cricket.com.au) said Hazlewood may be rested because we had to bowl 188 overs for the Test. Is bowling 2 days in a Test match considered a heavy workload these days? Not to mention the big gap there was between the 1st and 2nd Tests.

Yeah trying to get my head around that one too. Though with Hazelwood it is more of an accumulative issue, I suppose.

Perhaps CA might just see the ridiculous runs being made by solid Test players (at best), add it to the bowlers breaking down all over the place and click that the pitches might have something to do with it.

I'm not $ure they'll $ee it though.

Whilst he might not be everyone's cup of tea, could Maxwell bat at 6 for Sydney? His batting has been good this Shield season, though he only has 2 wickets admittedly, which should count against him. His fielding is also a huge plus.

I'd be open to Marsh playing as 3rd seamer, acknowledging his solid work with the ball this summer. It'd also mean him batting at 7 (or even 8), which probably suits him better and would allow him to relax with bat in hand.

Burns
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Voges
Maxwell
Marsh
Nevill
Pattinson
Lyon
Siddle

Voges and Smith to chip in with 15 overs between them.

Anyone got any suggestions for the Windies in terms of changes? I think Bishoo has to come in but who does he replace? Roach?

Please drop Samuels for Dowrich.

I feel the exact same about SOK. He gets selected it just shows how far off the pace we are.

So far off the pace that we'll be equal number 1 Test side if we win in Sydney...
Which is laughable given we're the biggest flat track bullies. We shouldn't be anywhere neat no.1 given we can;t beat Pakistan, India or England away.

Still laughable that SOK will be playing. Will not make the grade. Bookmark it.

It's frustrating but the sides you named can't beat us here either.

Possibly but he deserves a go. Don't see anyone else available that is a realistic option- and Ahmed isn't one...and Agar is basically playing as a batsman who bowls a bit nowadays

As I pointed out elsewhere though they are at least able to beat each other somewhat. England can beat India away as an example.

How are we near test no.1 when we haven't beaten Pak, India or England away since the early 2000's. That is laughable.

Then pick 3 seamers.

Boland for the Bigfooty melts but is seriousness Bird. Pick someone who IS up to it. Not that 31yo dart bowler.
