He's that Jamie Elliott, Gary Rohan, Lincoln McCarthy type dangerous medium forward who can get you both on the ground and air. Im really excited to get him in
I also like that when he flies for hangers, he regularly takes them (sorry, Koz)

If we actually went with that (we won't, Goody will have three KPFs in ASAP), we wouldn't be able to blame the forwards for the lack of scoring.

Potential to be a really dynamic mix if we give them the space to win 1:1 contests (and you know, hit up the occasional lead)

True though. Imagine how dangerous that small ball forward line could look. Our pressure should be through the roof.
100% – reckon I'd actually be excited for Melbourne games, as it'd mean we actually have to alter how we play a bit.

booshboy's list includes six guys that are genuinely good in one-on-one contests, something we haven't had in ages.

No liabilities either and any of them could have a day where they kick 4 but also most of them can come into the midfield as well. I'd be excited too.

I am not familiar with McAdam but forward pressure is super important hopefully he can bring that
Small sample size, but in his last three games of AFL footy, he had 16 tackles and kicked eight goals. If he can bring that sort of form in soon, it'd make a huge difference (especially in place of an ineffectual KPF).

Definitely. Most teams only have one or two specialist smaller/mid-sized stoppers down back – hitting them with all of McAdam, Koz, Trac and Fritsch would be a matchup nightmare, especially since they can all impact both in the air and at ground level.

You get the ball in to that group at speed and it would cause some massive headaches for backlines.

I don't know what the stats say, but I reckon Petty is better one on one than JVR.

JVR has a slightly better offensive one on one % this year: JVR 21.4, Petty 20%.

Petty averages more one on one contests per game though.

2024
Petty
  • Offensive 1v1 win rate: 20.0%
  • Offensive 1v1 contests per game: 2.9
JVR
  • Offensive 1v1 win rate: 21.4%
  • Offensive 1v1 contests per game: 1.6

2023
Petty
  • Offensive 1v1 win rate: 22.2%
  • Offensive 1v1 contests per game: 1.3
JVR
  • Offensive 1v1 win rate: 17.0%
  • Offensive 1v1 contests per game: 2.4

Much of a muchness really, though these stats say Brown has been better 1v1 than both this year, so 🤷‍♂️

For context, Fritsch is going at 50% (7th in the league).

In before we play a small forward line, hack it in anyway and McGovern/Barrass take a million intercept marks and don't even give us a chance to put any pressure on.
