Not sure how Dante has become so popular over Sweet. I've never rated hit outs very highly but does Dante's occasional clearances really make up for being dominated in hitouts all day VS us dominating hit outs?

Sweet and Vissantini are as useless as each other, Viss may become good in the future but for the now we do not have a serviceable AFL Ruckman.
Both are plenty serviceable when played as the #1 ruck. Like literally every other ruckman in the league, both are crap when asked to share the load.

Let's just take a second to remember who it was who pantsed them both yesterday. Brodie Grundy, correct? Two time B&F winner, two time All Australian Brodie Grundy. When Brodie Grundy stupidly requested a trade to the Demons and was asked to play the same role Sweet and Visentini played yesterday, even he was so bad at it he got dropped to the VFL. Because it's ****ing impossible to play that role. Don't blame Sweet or Visentini because their moron coach set them up to fail.

If the flue is running through the club.Surley the affected players need to be isolated ,from the rest of the players.
Only a 5 day break till Thursday night. Not a long preparation for injured and sick players.
Out of form players need to be dropped to the Magpies. And in form Magpies need to be elevated.
Yesterday was a clear indicator that where not playing, finals. We are closer to the bottom 4 than the top 8.
We cant trade our way out of this mess .As we have tried to do the last 7, years.
Too many teams have overtaken us.Port seem to be happy to sit back and waste the rest of 2025.

JHF looks like he can't lift one of his arms. No doubt we'll just keep playing him until it falls off even though this season is a complete write off and the only person with anything to gain is little kenny's legacy.
Carr should get an independent medical specialist through to pull anyone that's likely need off season surgeries in early so they can be back for a full pre season

I'll take Dante's 25 hitouts with 7 to advantage, and follow up contested ground ball, over Jordan's 37 hitouts with only 4 to advantage and not much follow up all day.

Especially when Dante tends to ruck more against the oppo's #1 ruck and Sweet against the 2nd string ones.

If the two ruck model isn't going to work then we need to play Finlayson as much as he doesn't deserve it because Lord's had plenty of chances and shown he isn't AFL quality. At least we know there is an AFL quality player in Finlayson if he plays with the right attitude and better headspace.

Anyone thinking that we would've been better off with Lord and only one ruck is kidding themselves.

There were literally so many elements to our game that were wrong yesterday, it was a disaster from start to finish and a comprehensive smashing across every line and completely unwatchable. The two rucks model is copping a fair bit of attention here but the alternatives aren't great either.

Finlayson should never play again he's an absolute soul sapping drain on anyone in his vicinity I'd hate to be his teammate.

He's exactly the type the old sign in the Alberton changerooms was on about you gotta rid yourself of those players permanently.

So what do we do then? We've got nothing else, the cupboard is bare. We basically went with two rucks because the alternative talls in Finlayson and Lord were both dogshit.

We go back to one ruck after this week, but do we have anyone to provide a chop out? Or are we asking them to ruck 100% of the game time.

I wouldn't be opposed to playing Luko straight up to avoid finlasyon or lord in the forward line as Georgiades probably does require at least some tall timber support but Lukosious isn't going to be able to provide any ruck support.

The year is shot I'd just keep pumping full games into Dante myself I couldn't care less who can give him a five minute chop out as winning is irrelevant, if Wines comes back he can do it.

I'm definitely think Dante is the way to go too, Sweet has been a big disappointment this year after being quite good last year.

But we need an extra tall forward at the least, ruck support may not be essential.

Wont matter who we play we will win comfortably Voss is on borrowed time and many think he has lost the playing group, he won't be coaching Carlton next year. carlton are pretty much a club in crisis, Kenny will chalk up another win this week and come out and say we can still make finals because he is a dillusional human. Just looking foward to round 23 to wave goodbye to Ken for ever, until then just hoping to see some young ones like Lorenz and Jackson get a fair run.

In my case it is purely a developmental thing. Dante is 22 and may develop, although the jury is out. Sweet is 27 and simply lacks the ball skills to succeed at AFL level. I would not mind giving Soldo one last crack at the big time. At this stage Ivan probably has his cards marked but we not going anywhere so giving him a couple of games might be worthwhile if Soldo is an improvement on Sweet and Visentini he stays on the list if not he goes.

If you look at the stats for each of the three players there is not that much difference in the hit out stats, where they fall over is with their contribution in field play. None of these guys is ever going to be a Max Gwan or Brodie Grundy but if they could manage to average 12 or 14 disposals with 4 or 5 marks a game it would be an improvement. Maybe Dante will get there one day?

Whoever they pick this Thursday it should be only one of them as we cannot afford two ruckmen.

He just did, as predicted Ken was on SEVEN News last night saying we can still make the eight. You are so right- the guy is delusional and treats the supporters like a bunch of imbeciles.

I would not under rate Voss. He must have some insider knowledge from his days working with Hinkley and any Coach looking at that Swans game will know how to beat Port. All Voss has to do is go man on man, apply pressure and we will go to water. I have not seen so many ball handling errors from a Port side as I saw in the first half on Saturday and it was all down to the pressure applied by the opposition.

Honestly could not give a shit, went into last week a little hopeful that the back part of the year would be a positive run into next year, but after yet another absolute capitulation I'm completely done with any thoughts around this team until there's a serious effort to try something different.

I'm going to take my 6 y.o. son to his first night game, so whilst the game means zero, and I probably wont pay much attention, I've at least got something to look forward to.

Reality is though I'm so totally over this club and the way it is being run these days. Never thought I'd feel this way, but so many years of this depressing mediocrity accepting malaise starts to make me constantly think about walking away from being a member constantly.
