No need to make wholesale changes.

I would prefer Hayes to get one more week and bring Lycett back for the Collingwood game, but if Lycett is fit he comes in for sure.

Rioli is quite the loss because he has an X factor in front of goal that no other small forward in the side has. I suspect Evans will get his spot but I wouldn't be against going with Fantasia.

I really don't understand what Jonas provides to suggest he's a good matchup against either Curnow or McKay. He's undersized, slow, immobile and terrible user of the footy. Bergman and Jones are smaller in stature but they more than make up for it in other areas. Bergman shut down Ben King and Jeremy Cameron so I don't see why he can't get the Curnow role this week. Duursma should then come in on the wing at McKenzies expense.

Selection will be an interesting window into just who is making the hard decisions amongst the coaching group.

Week in week out we prove that height in the backline is overrated. If you've got a big athletic guy like Aliir then that's fantastic, but big lumbering defenders that can't kick or run are a waste of space, you're better off with slightly undersized guys that can kick, mark and read the play well. Whatever you lose in the very occasional one on one height mismatch (that by the way, even a really tall defender is capable of losing if the ball is delivered well) you gain on the offensive end and then some. In my opinion, accidentally or by design, we are revolutionising what a good back 6 looks like.
Yes. But Curnow and McKay as dual tall and very mobile forward targets for Carlton is quite formidable.

Aliir takes one next week. Who takes the other?

McKay played back into form.
Yep - the midfield delivery to him and Curnow has been elite. Despite Freo having a huge ruck dominance with 47 hit outs (to 8) thus far Carlton are killing the centre clearances to advantage.

Nullifying that midfield dominance once the ball hits the deck. That's obviously the focus for us against them next week..

It's fine so long as the midfield is performing. Otherwise, no.

Essentially an elimination final for the blues next week. Will be a good test for us.

Anyone know their record at Marvel?

We need to bury the Blues - 40+.

Our midfield is faster and more skilful. Ferraris vs commodores.

Our forward line is more dynamic and talented.

Our defensive six have prioritised speed and talent over height and one on one ability.

We should crush these AFL rich boy darlings.

Would love an aggressive Pasini debut but I think, bergs back, Xavs to the wing and Narkle in up front makes sense.

Happy for Evans to sub or debut The Wolverine- it’s time, cracking game.

Me and 31,000 other people were there, yes. The arrogance you're exuding by constantly repeating that you were there as though this means your opinion can't be wrong even though the law of averages suggests that the vast majority of the 31,000 other people who were there disagree with you is incredible.
Might be alone in this, but I find that actually being at a game gives me less of an opportunity to properly assess what’s going on in a game. Couldn’t even tell you who was BOG in any of the matches I’ve been to this season.

In pasini give him a go at AFL level. Evans will replace rioli

More then a little annoyed with JR tbh understanble but am pretty pissed ...

I'd be bringing in fantasia maybe get some form going into the finals ..

X back in if fit enough..

Lycett same as above..

Plz god no ****ing slow Jonas I'd rather Berg play and if we lose cop it on the chin ..

The suggestion of picking Fantasia is surprising. I want the kid to put injury behind him and get back to good football but to be honest, almost an entire team of players have offered more in the games that he's managed to play. He needs more game time and good performances.

Lucky Hayes will play to give our midfield the first look 😁

Looks slower than the Queen Mary.
Take out yesterday's game in the Woodville tar pit and his SANFL performance hasn't been that bad imho. Not dominant but not woeful either.

His games against Centrals and the June game against the Eagles (where he picked up 17 disposals and five marks) were pretty good imho.

But you wouldn't put him in the A's after him only getting 7 touches yesterday, despite the conditions. Fact is that there really isn't an obvious match up for him in Carlton's forward line.

I would actually be fine with giving Pasini a debut.

We saw in the weeks leading up to his ACL he was very close to selection. So he has the talent, and why not give the kid a crack than Jonas who is woeful and probably retired years end.

I would also bring Duursma in for Rioli and start Narkle

Yes, that is exactly my idea of pressing an advantage. And I guarantee you that it would be Zak Butters, Connor Rozee, Ollie Wines and Jason Horne-Francis' idea of pressing an advantage too.

Sam Hayes' best skill is his tap work. He'll be able to utilise that skill a hell of a lot better against Lewis Young and Jack Silvagni than he could against Jarrod Witts.
Like the massive advantage that Sean Darcy gave Freo today...
